Ah, damn good idea as a gift, I got a Kyosho Optima for Xmas when I was a kid, had to build it and enjoyed every minute of it.

When on to race it locally in the regional club, ended up customising it with belt drive hand wound motor, etc.

Got a medal or two knocking around somewhere.......

He will enjoy it.

If he follows my example he will respect his betters, show grace in adversity, care and show compassion where needed and make his Father proud.

No problem sir, you and your lad will enjoy it immensely as it is great to share together.

An extra battery is a must, in my day you got about 20mins usage from a charge but you can get a "Fast" charger.

Believe me these things can be fast even the electric ones and can hit with some force and I have seen a race side Marshall knocked over when one hit him.

Slight Tangent, but my Old dears bought my young brother a Remote controlled Hover craft boat!

we were trying it out last week when i went round to visit, its awesome, its works on any surface (yours truley obviously had to go run the bath tub, and try it in there)..........and it works!

awesome!

You'll need about 40 Batteries tho, goes through them like nothing else!
