I had a fairly long look at this race yesterday and a few things baffle me.

Why is Officier de Reserve soo short (9-1)? The horse looks like a non-stayer, he barely gets 3M and I'd expect him to really struggle over this trip. There is no way this boy is the reason Ruby is at Chepstow today. At the prices I'd much rather be on Cornish Set if I was to go with Paul Nicholls on this. 33-1 ATM, an out and out stayer..he'll get every yard of this trip.

Mon Mome at 11-2? I can't touch him, then again I don't rate Venetia Williams all that highly so maybe that has something to do with it...I just think she should have 2 horses and a potato field and would have had that had she not lucked out by getting Best Mate.

Halcon Genelardais, is a decent bet at 10-1. The classiest animal in the race he'll probably get into a place and will probably be undone by carrying top weight. Nice sort though, I really like this horse.

Joe Lively is a big price..he won nicely last time out, beating Halcon by 14 ..he's up 12 pounds now but I think the really testing ground didn't even suit him really last time out and he'll be better on this nice soft ground ... @16-1 he seems tasty enough.

RP tip up Nenuphar Collonges @5-1 ..he should stay but I can't help but think this horse is a much better hurdler than he is a chaser. His jumping isn't too fluent and I reckon he could get caught out here...I just don't get where the 5-1 comes from.

Notre Pere, should be favourite IMO. I don't like backing 9-1 shots in nationals but this horse is too big. He stays, he jumps, is in good form and will like the ground..

Kings Euro would be interesting with a run under his belt..I don't know why he's not been given one.

Notre Pere and Joe Lively for me in this...though I'll probably just have a tiny bet and watch the race.....the really nice racing is over in Ireland today.

I've studied the race for the last couple of hours (FML) and still cant figure it out. Think a small EW bet on Darkness will be my only involvement.

How highly do you rate Henrietta Knight ?

WD Boldie

Thanks Smiley I can't believe it drifted out to 16's...I took the bloody 9's!

Kab, to answer your question..I think Henrietta is a fairly average trainer. She did well with Best Mate (but not well enough as she didn't get as much out of him as he could have done...she should have raced him more IMO)...and...well...that's it really....haven't seen her do anythign exceptional in a while and I think there are many better trainers out there (although admittedly she doesn't have the nr of horses anymore.)

p.s. Just got knocked out of the scoop6 win fund because Laskari could only finish 2nd FML. (the first three were fairly easy admittedly)
