Can anyone tell me how it is possible for me to recieve emails from my own email address.Its only just started,last couple of days or so but they are all spammy trying to flog viagara etc. How safe is my email address to use now? thanks for any help

Did any of the following happen to you recently at the same time?
-got very drunk
-failed to perform in the bedroom department
-went onto a computer

You can set the "from" part of an email to anything you want.

I wouldn't be overly worried about it, they're probably hoping that emails from you will get past any spam filters you have.

You'll get them for ages now mate - been getting mine for about 3 months. Bugger is I know where it all started from as well, do'h.
Just delete them, don't even open them as some spam emails are set up to record which email addresses are active - ie if you open it it is deemed an active email address and you just get more of the buggers lol.

I used to get loads of these, marking them as spam has helped and yahoo automatically puts them in the spam box now.

I've just compiled a 2008 summary for my work. I've personally sent just over 5 million emails in 2008, and none of them said they were from me.  NB: Our clients assure us they're all opt in emails - not spam (we trust our clients to not fib) |
