Hi all.  At the in-laws and their laptop is playing up.  It's about a year old with Vista.  When they turn it on, after about 5 minutes a message pops up saying 'No boot filename received.'  Then the computer goes on it's merry way to starting up.  How do I go about sorting this so they don't have to wait the time it takes to cook a fry up while their computer boots?  Many thanks in advance from all of us.

Hi Dawn,

The machine is trying to boot to a network device.

Get in to the setup (del key, F2 etc)

Change the boot order to make sure the hard disk is the first option on the list.

OK, the boot priority order at the minute is this:

1 USB Key:

2 PCI BEV: NVIDIA Boot Agent

3 USB HDD:

4 IDE 4: Hitachi HTS blahblah (Bunch of numbers)

5 IDE CD: MATSHITADVD-RAM UJ blahblah

6 USB FDC:

7

8

Excluded from boot order:
USB CDROM
USB ZIP
USB LS120

What do I move and where, please and thanks?
