Bit confused really. We'll have to wait till 6.
ECB say there have been no resignations so if Moores and KP have both been sacked it's understandable if KP but a bit rubbish. We don't really have anybody to step in as Captain.
Strauss can do the Test job but i'm not sure about one day.

Apparantly now they're saying he resigned.

Sometimes I think English cricket is secretly being run by Australians.

Well Pietersen lasted less time than i predicted which is pretty impressive.

I am surprised that they have both gone, which suggests to me that both of them have lost the rest of the squad. This was always going to be the problem with KP that he is a character that divides people, which is not conducive for an England captain, especially when they go on tour and live on top of one another.

Strauss is a super obv choice, with a long term view to bringing in Cook. I really haven't got a clue who they are going to bring in as coach.

Coach will more than likely depend on the Captain given the current issue.

Hey ho

Flintoff can't stand Pietersen either, and Flintoff is a Moores fan

Once it was decided Moores had to walk, I reckon Pietersen had to go too as some of the squad are v close to Flintoff.

Strauss and then onto Cook for Test captaincy, Only ODI captain I can see is Colly.

Expect them to go for a County coach as stopgap, Ford at Kent maybe...before going for a big profile and money appointment down the line, maybe Gary Kirsten at India

At least we've got a chance to bed it all down in the Caribbean before the Ashes

I would hope they bring in Andy Flower as coach, afaik he has team and ECB respect.

Strauss right choice as Test captain for now, Flintoff only other person who could be considered and that would be taking a step backwards. Strauss is a winning captain when he's stepped in and he tends to thrive on it, his batting average when captain is 13 runs higher than test avg!

As for one day captain, looking at the squad for WI tour, it's gonna be either Collingwood or Freddie unless they add to the squad. Personally, I'd bring in Rob Key. He has the experience (Kent/England Lions), and could bolster the opening partnership.

I can see Cook being next long-term captain...or maybe even Pietersen returning once he mends his bridges. His statement this evening certainly makes for interesting reading - nice little infer that he hadn't resigned until Sky News said he'd issued ultimatiums and quit.

Pretty much agree with whats been said re captaincy

Isn't this typical of the shambolic nature of the ECB however..

On betfair you can still get Strauss at 1/20 on to be captain for the 1st test on 4th Feb.

I took Colly at 120/1 and Freddy at 30/1,.....just in case  Cheesy
