well the screen on my lapton has been broken for a while so yesterday i bought a new 22" monitor to play it through, and this was working perfectly untill i stupidly started messing around with it.

i went to settings and set it to primary monitor which was fine, but i wanted to change it so it was the only monitor, so clicked monitor one and set that as primary monitor (the one that doesnt work, silly i know lol) so im using a diff comp to write this. so now my working monitor comes on but everything opens onto the lappy screen which obv doesnt work. like i can right click then go 2 settings but it opens it knowere i can get to! are there any computer smart ppl on here that have any idea on how to sort this?

That sounds exactly like something I would do.

You on XP or Vista?

If the other machine is using the same operating system you can carry out the same steps on each of them and set the other monitor as the primary one.  I've had to do it before!

So you'd do something like right-click on the desktop (you have to guess and hope you're right-clicking on the desktop), and then click the down cursor 6-times - then click enter - then click the right cursor 4 times - click tab twice - then click down cursor once - then click tab 7 times and hit enter.

Voila.

Of course, this is necessarily guaranteed to work.

(Now someone will come along and give you a much easier way of sorting your problem Cheesy)

if you boot it into safe mode, will it not remove the multiple monitor option ?

On some laptops you can press Function + F4 to display onto an attached monitor.
