Right folks looking for a wee bit of advice here.  Other than me inflicting a beating any other/more sensible suggestions on this one?

My Mam was at work the day when a guy came in said he was selling Plasma TV's at £400 for a 50".  Now we already have a 42" on the wall so really we don't need a new telly but my Ma thought she was getting a bargain.  Anyway she tells this guy that she is interested and he turns up at our house after she finished work with this tv all boxed up and in bubble wrap, her boss was here and he had a look at it then the tv was powered up but still in the bubble wrap content that it was working my ma held over £400.

Now her boss then removed the bubble wrap and notices a few scratches on it, he makes the assumption that the guy selling the TV has probably bought it in a factor returns shop at a much reduced rate because of a dent, then they get the telly up on the wall put the power on and in the top right corner there is a black box, I havent seen it yet but from what I understand this box is about 8" x 8"

So she's just been grimmed out of £400 because she thought she was getting a bargain.  Stupidity I know can't believe that she has been so stupid.  But other than me trying to track this fucker down and giving him a pasting and reclaiming the money is there any other suggestions?

Is it worth getting the law involved?  I'm not to keen on going to the cops usually my involvement with them is all bad.  LOL!

I'm really pissed of by this even more so because I wasn't here at the time.

Sorry dont mean to be terribly Cynical but what was the Boss doing in the house...

Was it him that took control of the "i'll test it out and make sure its working" part?

He didn't insist on coming over to make sure she wasnt getting grimmed no?? Was he there in the work when the guy came in

Probably all harmless but it is a kinda classic way of grimming if they were in cahoots.

The boss is sound mate, he was dropping off money for her to put towrds the telly, no issues with him he's a good friend as well.

Put it on the wall with a dodgy bracket let it fall and then claim on the insurance,

find the fecker get £400 back smash him up

all well that ends well...

alternatively get your mum to clean the plasma with mr muscle oven cleaner and blame it on bad eyesight ...

If I didn't work for the UK's biggest Loss Adjuster that may just have happened.  But I know how these claims are investigated and how keen insurers are not to pay out on them Wink

Yep dude, if you've been grimmed then you absolutely must grimm the insurance. That is what they're there for. Saying you have all the inside info to successfully grimm but wont grimm is nutz. If you don't do this you'll just stay grimmed. Even the insurance company will have grimmed you x2...cos they expect you to grimm them.

Not sure I read this right, but if there's a black box on the actual screen could she not just use it as a second TV for watching space movies and Star Trek?
