if you're not gonna bet the flop, you have to at the very least bet the turn

Why??? I don't agree with this. Isn't it better to get some value on the river than have everyone fold on the turn?

7-8, 4-5, club fd's, 6's as well as pp's etc will give you value on the turn no? What range of hands give you better value on the river than these do on the turn?

4 handed tons of hands are gonna call you, and when they call you it allows you to get more value on the river so you get 2 streets instead of 1.
