I recently moved from RBS to Royal Bk Canada here in Jersey and with recent press I thought it was a smart move.

However, my entire department (about a dozen of us) have been "invited" to a meeting on Thursday morning being run by the local ceo and being attended by the head of Offshore HR and another HR rep.

Cant be good news.

Pain relief (large quantities of red wine) helps

if I am right, then dont expect any posts on Thursday, or at least none that you can understand and that are typed before 2am.

He hasn't been on since 9 o'clock this morning.  Hope it wasn't as bad as feared.

Sigh..........

Basically screwed

Dept of 12 people
4 x project managers, 4 x business analysts, 4 x software testers (my team)

Our whole dpet is being disolved, PM's have the option of applying for 2 supposed vacancies in the IT project team, the analaysts similar situation, my team bascially no options.
Jersey law means that rather than straight redundancy we have to go into a 2 to 3 week consultancy period, what ever the fck that means. Basically just beurocracy and delaying the inevitable. I would rather just be fcking told straight.

My contract states 3 months notice so in 2 weeks time i expect to be booted out with 3 months pay plus hopefully 1 month "redundancy" pay. I have only worked for them for 8 months though so cant count on that extra month. (ten years service in previous job, sigh)

Am on pretty good money in this job, pretty much no chance of finding anothe job anywhere near the same money.

Not a good situation. How many people can afford to take a 30-40% pay cut. Thats what I am prob looking at. Jobs are out there but not on this money.

Didnt really like the job so have been trying to focus on the element of relief to get out of it, but reality has to kick in some time.

Am fairly long of ale at this point but dont feel p1ssed. A bit stunned tbo.

Fck knows what next.
