lol.."don't do it or I shove". He'll fold faster than anything if you actually raise here..they always do.

Raise/shove...much of the same really.

just shove. his range to call here is plenty wide enough, and 90% of the time you will be in good shape.

not much FE by just raising anyway.

Do this every time.

Speech play pre flop is pure muppetry.

Is that a word? It is now.

One more thing. Do not get involved in any kind of conversation with this person.

Just ignore him completely, don't look at him, don't talk to him, just put your raise in as you were planning.

When he passes still don't say anything. Just smile inwardly knowing that you've made him look like a twat and everybody at the table knows it.

You'll have him seething.

The responses to this speech play have been pretty uniform...

And I gotta say I don't agree with any of it. His comment doesn't mean fuck all. If he says "don't do it I will shove" and you chose to ignore him and do it anyway it MEANS everyone left to act behind you has the luxury of free information. By ignoring it and raising you tell everyone you have premium and absolutely want to play for stacks. And you're doing this cos you inwardly want to fist-pump making him look like a twat when he folds. But this isn't the aim of poker at all. Why do you want this guy to fold? Especially a worse hand? (considering he never folds better). And especially when you have less than 7bb's and the absolute aim of this poker situation is to get it in vs a worse hand. If you raise anyway and make him fold worse who is actually the twat?

Like Boldie says...considering we KNOW he folds if we raise...why raise? Much better to show his comment has some affect on you. Just limp a bit meekly, look at the guy and say "I wasn't going to raise anyway son...but if you raise I might have to call"....and pick up your stack in readiness. Now when the action gets to him there is a much better chance he will push....cos the table's watching...he made a big man's threat...he doesn't believe you have a monster after YOUR speech play...and we all prefer to push than call when short.

It doesn't really matter whether you hate that plan and think there's only a slim chance it will work, the point is it's MUCH better than raising KNOWING he will fold. This might be a longshot but you have 7bb's so it's worthwhile trying. Thinking he is the twat when he garners free info from you, enabling him to fold worse when you are desperate for a double up, is bad poker. Reacting to his speech play with the above comments means this guy has pulled your strings....wp.

so you would limp and hope that he reraises you.

what would u do if u limp button limps and sb completes and bb checks ?? not the best of situation.......

ace or king flops Huh? what would u do then

i did take his speach into consideration but i dont think he will still raise 100% of the time if i limp

Yeah, I don't think he raises 100% of the time if you limp either. But if you think he folds 100% if you raise...then limping is much better than raising isn't it? Thing is...you look at the standard strong reaction to his speech play...it's a real scornful "this guy's a twat and will deffo fold" kinda mentality. So use that standard reaction to your own benefit. If you limp and threaten to do exactly what this guy threatened to do it is entirely possible you can hook a fish behind who doesn't believe YOU. Lol at people who say this guy is deffo bullshitting but you're being honest if you say exactly the same thing he did. If you do get a limped pot that pot will be the same size as your stack and you still have a premium hand. With 7bb's I'd prefer to gamble on a non A-K flop with action than just take the blinds without.

And this is why I called it a breach of etiquette. If I were in this pot I'd be calling the TD over, esp in DTD as they'd do something about it.

On 11k yes I'm shoving any pair from EP and probably A9+, KJ+ depending on table and other stacks.

In late position I'm usually shoving atc depending on players after me and their stacks. Big stacks are likely to call a "not tight" player with any paint so I'd be a bit more cautious.
