That's pretty sweet - even the weekend rates tend to be under $100 a night.

Yes but remember its FROM that price. Just go to fatwallet and you will see this and  all equivalent deals here and elsewhere, there are loads of them.

Something else to bear in mind is that hotel room supply is going to far outstrip demand in Vegas this year, with many Americans having less cash to throw around. So the deals should only get better as summer approaches.

Was having a poke around the other day on smartervegas and I noticed you could get a MGM Terrace Suite for only a couple of hundred.  Won't break the bank for a couple of nights balla, 1300sq ft, two-story suites with a massive balcony.  Pre recession, these were $1k per night stuff.

Nothing wrong with the standard rooms tho - apart from them potentially being half a mile from the lifts...

A piece in The Times earlier this week suggested Vegas was being hit hard by the economic thingie.

Footfall through McCarron is down 25% year on year - a pretty reliable yardstick, I'd have thought.

Over 350 planned conventions in Vegas were cancelled in February alone, partly because Obama mocked all the Corporate jollies the Banking & Finance Industry were still going to hold.

It also said, eye-raisingly, that some 80% of the Hotels profits came from Slots! That's jaw-dropping, (if true), the power of Slots.

Given that the whole Vegas industry is geared around various forms of gaming/gambling, plus the Big-Name Shows, the era of completely free Hotel accommodation cannot be far off.

A lot of Hotel capacity has been planned & constructed in the last few boom years, (borrowed money financed it, of course), and is now coming on stream, so this will excacerbate the situation.

Bad news for Messrs Trump & Wynn is good news for those Vegas-bound. For every action, a reaction.
