He's right Paul.

Make sure you know because like he says they are 2 different games.

As for the hand if I'm dealt an 8 I'm happy getting the lot in as soon as possible playing a small stack. If someone's drawing make them pay to hit.

Pop it up to 30 now. Button will call then you jam it in whether he pulls a card or not.

Short stack padooki is easy. Don't over complicate it.

An 8 dealt is that strong. You are ahead more than you are behind. Ship the lot in regardless and expect him to roll over a 10 more than a 7. You have position by the sounds of it. If he stands pat 1st change, he might break 2nd change, could be just seeing what you do.

Yep Wink

You can't pass an 8 pre (for £100), you can't draw to your hand very well. Just hope your on the right side this time.

To find out follow this simple process:

Q. Am I in USA? If yes, you are playing Badugi
Q. Am I in UK? If yes, you are playing padooki.

Q. Are you in a different country? I don't have a clue.

Padooki is pot limit Badugi is limit.

Padooki and Badugi have different hand rankings. But the nuts and the drawing objectives are the same, hence the confusion.

The starting hands are much closer in padooki than badugi. If you start drawing behind in badugi you are much more likely to remain behind by the end.

You should be playing a lot tighter in Badugi. Also Padooki is the ultimate positional game. Badugi isn't nearly so positional (due to it being limit).

I've seen kings queens and jacks patted all the way. Even flushes in the hope the other person breaks. You have more chance of winning by standing pat and your hand being good than breaking it on the 3rd change and probably missing any draw you might have.

Also, you have an 8762 padooki, it's not like you can draw (you need to take 2 cards to improve really) unless you put him on a better 8.

He might have a JT9X padooki or something he CAN'T break. You never know. If this is the 1st time you've played the game there too, he might have ANY padooki and hope you don't know how to play.

I would be putting it all in pre with a 9 or a 10 for definite, probably a jack too. There are exponentially more 10s and than etc. Stand pat, cross your fingers. Nothing more can be done IMO.

U win?

yes i won

but i was wondering what he would have jamed and pat with all the way down
i have played b4 but not in a long time.

in hull paduki is mad ppl just love to pot and pat with anything then pot the next street just coz they have position.

i think they cream their pants abit too much when they get any paduki

do you play alot then?
and where?

Always reraise... Hes probably opened up drawing with a hand like  two hearts or similar hand... obviously if he repots you back then you may be in trouble
