I've been tempted by a few of the games at Walsall (particularly the 50 freezeout) recently so thought i'd go to the website and see if i could join online. Under the membership section they have a nice flashy button that says "Apply Online Now". So far so good.

So why then do I have to print the form out and fax it to the casino? It renders it useless to me as I don't have a fax machine, or any need for one.

I could set up a system that could email the contents of the form to the casino in about 30 seconds, so why can't they? Surely it is in their interests to make joining as easy as possible?

Couple of things Bongo:-
Your pc is a fax machine, you can go into add/remove programs on the left click on add/remove windows components and install the fax software.
Or go into any grosvenor casino and join Walsall from reception.
Hope this helps,
Ian

Bongo,

Blame the Gaming Board. This one is their ruling.

My PC isn't a fax - it has no modem as i have no need for one, although I probably have one lying round in the garage I could stick in if i really had to.

Walsall is my closest Grovesnor and it is far enough away to make it inconvenient to travel there just to join.

Blame the Gaming Board. This one is their ruling.

I can only assume that it is to make it harder to join casinos on a whim? Online applications should provide more traceability than a fax if that is what the GB are worried about.

Again i'm only trying to help,

If you call them they will send you a postal application form.

Unfortunately the Gaming Board requires that your signature be on a piece of paper 24 hours before you can enter the premises.

Fill it in sign it and send it back.

Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh in tone, i'm not having a very good day. (I'm currently finishing off my notes on a new database for a meeting in London tomorrow morning).

I guess I'll just have to find someone with a fax machine.

Do the gaming board do/require a casino to do anything that helps me or enhances my enjoyment of casinos?

Yogi, you talk far too much sense, have too much knowledge on how to run a card room properly, and you know what the punters want from a card room..... you are wasted in a casino where your hands are tied by senior management decisions.  i tell you what, when burnley john or the edge wins the world series, or i fluke a sat. seat and then go on to win the world series ( LOL), I am gonna persuade them to invest in a business venture and open up a card room in Colchester(nearest casino fkin miles away)... you can run it for us, only downside is you would have to move down south lol  and anyway im suprised you havent been tempted away by some private club yet ..... but remember , I asked you first Wink

HEHEHEHE
Thx Kev. I'm deeply honoured.

You would be surprised by how few offers i have had.

I do believe a Grand total of 1 at the last count, which was right after i had read this.

Anyhow I have spent the last few days battering the managers and who knows Pigs might fly and things may change.

But going on recent successes or lack of I doubt it.

It does seem to be a strange way of doing it ... However I managed to join Grosvenor Blackpool over the phone with no problem atall.
As an aside I went with three colleagues and played their monday night 10 rebuy a week or so ago .. My three colleagues had never played live before ...in fact one of them had never played before!!!
Can I say what a great card room the Blackpool Grosvenor is. I read lots about it here during there festival and thought it sounded good ... Its spacious , well lit ... well run and a pleasure to play at.. Well done to Yogi and the staff there we  a great evenings cards and sadly i was out first ... KK V AQ and we can all guess what the river was ...My friends also said how pleasant an atmosphere it was... So High stakes or Low stakes Blackpool is a winner....

Because punters don't deal with the gaming board, they deal with casinos.
