Once laid down Pocket Kings preflop in a live tourney at last years WPT-PCA event. Was playing one of the evening tournaments - a $300 freezout there was about 100 runners and they were paying top 18 and we were down to about 4 tables. I'd played my usual game building my stack up early so that i could tighten up during the mid stages of the tourney (the part where its starting to get expensive to call to see cheap flops but not quite worth the risk to keep raising to steal the blinds).
I'd hardly played a hand for about an hour when i raised from mid position with AA - of course everyone passed and one of the Americans sat at the table piped up "you must have aces or kings as thats the first hand you've played in ages". About 4 hands later i'm UTG and i pick up KK so again i raise. everyone passes round to the American who had just commented on my previous hand and he immediately reraised me but not by much. He too had been playing quite tight so i deduced that if he thought i was only playing Aces or Kings he must have AA.
Everyone passed to me and after studying him for a while i asked him how much he had left (i knew i had him covered easily but i wanted to see if i could pick up any more of him) as he went to count his chips i realized he had a big hand and much to the amazement of the rest of the table i said "pass" and turned up the two kings. He then promptly threw his arms in the air in disbelief and turned over his two aces.
It was probably the best move i ever made because no-one wanted to mess with me after that and i made the money quite easily before my top set was called by a flush draw which hit on the river
