Yeah but they're professionals, I wouldn't expect a local side to collapse like that after a dodgy descision, yet alone a Prem side.

fair point, but it does happen and did. And Spurs were good for their 2-0 lead b4 the pen.

The penalty just gave the Man Utd players new hope and belief that they didnt have before the pen which gave them the confidence to romp it in the end.

True..but Spurs were just woeful after that. To concede 4 goals and blame it all on one desicion is just saying "Whenever we hit a spot of bother we crumble like the pathetic ,weak, overpaid girls we really are"

I think Boldie summed it  up best here.

If a single wrong penalty decision against you results in you conceding a further 4 goals, you really didn't deserve to win the game.

http://soccerupdated.blogspot.com/2009/04/video-report-man-utdtrounced-tottenham.html

watch it a million times, you wont say it was a pen once.

Having seen it again a few times the ref gets it wrong, but given his positioning and with one opportunity to see it in real time I can see how he could give it, I still think this sort of decision is given up and down the country every week, or not given when there is a genuine pen in a similar situation. I suppose it's just a form of variance. The only way to stop this kind of award is a video ref to check when a penalty is awarded.

Spurs bottled it and Utd deserved it. But this was NEVER a penalty - even sped up it wouldn't be! The ball changed direction before Carrick even hits the deck.

Webb is meant to be our best referee..... and Camel is right, if he was so sure then why no red?
