The area is probably infected. You need a course of antibiotics. See your dentist asap.

I think Stu is right, sounds like an infection.

Yes, you are correct age [18-22] . However if this is a lower tooth it may be impacted i.e. not enough room to erupt. See your dentist.

Ditto above about see your dentist.  In the meantime, try Anbesol to numb the pain (or shredded clove - tastes like shite though).

Anbesol is a yellowish liquid that you dab over the gum and tooth with your finger. Better than bonjela).  You can get it from Boots or any Chemist.

Forgot to say - you can also get it from major supermarkets that have a pharmacy  (some may even sell if off the shelf, so you should be able to get it from there).

Hope you feeling a bit better

If tooth giving pain is 2nd. from back, it is unlikely to be wisdom tooth, unless pain is referred. See your dentist. good luck.

I am nearly 30 and I have a back wisdom tooth coming through at the moment.  Last week I visited my kinder egg certified dentist and he confirmed my suspicions that it was a wisdom tooth. He said that he has seen them coming through in people older than me. The dude aint very good to be honest so I am not 100% sure if he is correct. There is a shortage of good dentists where I stay unfortunately. This is probably the case everywhere I guess.

My dentist told me to rise my mouth with diluted tcp to numb the painfull area and come back in a few weeks if it didn't fix itself.
