I wasn't playing them to build a roll, I was only playing them to get the Stars promo this month, I don't think I'll make the points playing any lower than this.

80 is a pretty huge amount tbh, lots of people consider 20 to be fine for full ring which has less swings than HU and 6max. Though I think about 30 is fine.
My advice is when you are rolled and ready to move up play a few session at the level you are moving up to, and when you have about 5 or 6 winning sessions in a row then make the move full time.

For a full ring player less buy ins is ok but for a serious casual player I'd say 30-40 buy ins is ok.
If I was playing full time I would have at least 150 buy ins.

If you're playing full time, then yes, as you'll probably be siphoning off some of your winnings to pay the essentials, and if you have a bad month or two, you're covered.

if you are learning the game on your way through the ranks, you will experience disgusting swings. Having a huge bankroll is so awesome. On a day to day basis 6 tabling 6max id guess ppl average between a 2-10 buyin win/loss. If your roll was 30 buyins, run cold while playing bad and ur busto in a weekend.

Just out of interest what level are you trying to get too on the promo? The points seem to build up pretty quick even at $25nl. Pokerstars deals hands pretty quick compared to most sites.

Just the platinum for next month. I'm almost there, only 50 odd points to go, I may try NL25 for the rest of them. I would go for the 1200 points to get the 60,000 VPP but I doubt very much I'll earn another 38,000 by the end of the year so it will be wasted. Even if I do, I'd only get Supernova till Feb anyway.
