Ranking points
«

I know this question has prob been asked before, but... can someone please explain to me how the ranking points for each event are calculated ?.
I ask because i cant understand why the winner of the world heads up championship( which was obviously the main event) only gets 1,800 points winning 100,000 euros, and the winner of the 1000 euro N/L at same venue gets 2,400 points and wins 60,000 euros ?

There are three criteria for working out how many points are attributed to an Event.
Finishing position.
150 for first, 120 for 2nd, 100, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, & 30 for 9th.
Cost of buy-in. (in Euros).
Up to 399 Euros, multiply value of finishing position by 2. 400 - 749, multiply value of finishing position by 3. 750 Euros & above, multiply valuue of finishing position by 4.
Number of runners.
1 - 49, multiply by 1. 50-99, by 2. 100 - 149 x 3. 150 & above by 4.
So, the Heads up cost 2,000 Euros to enter, & had 128 runners. So the winner gets 150 x 4 x 3 = 1,800.
And in the 1,000 Euro comp, which had 156 runners, the winner therefore gets 150 x 4 x 4 = 2,400.
And by the way. It's officially called (take a VERY deep breath)....

Thanks Tikay, Thats that cleared up nicely. Just one point though, dont you think that the Main event of any festival should have bonus points to ensure that what is essentially (although expensive) a side game, doesnt attract more bonus points, because the players still involved in the "main event" cant play it ?

That's a different question Kev.
There are a million ways to slice this cake, all of them right (in the view of some) & all of them wrong (in the view of others). The Rankings criteria is adjusted from time to time to reflect changing conditions, & is essentially a dynamic equation, so expect it to evolve.
But that's a matter for Jon Shoreman, not me. But I will drop him a note & ask him to comment upon your question.
