OK - I'm moving house and will be getting Sky (Eck thumbs up).

Probably going to be getting HD, but will need a telly that's HD as well as the ones I've got are old.

How much do I need to spend on a 32" or bigger telly for decent quality?  Suggestions please...

I didn't realise they still made TVs that small. 32"? What century are you living in?

Yes, the John Lewis guarantee is a good idea.  But they obviously need to stock the telly (I wasn't calling you Telly, just an abbreviation for television) and then they'll also price match anywhere else.

I ideally want one like Stu suggested, but that'll have to wait.  If I get a 32" one or one slightly bigger for now, it can then go into the bedroom when I get a monster one down the line.

I got one of these last year and it's the bollocks

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0013UMYPK/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

Don't get Planet Earth on blu ray though, seems a good idea at the time, but in reality, you watch a bit of one once, then it's back in the box....

Oh, and get 37", it's not as big as you think.  We went from a 28" crt to the 37" plasma and it wasn't that big a jump as I expected

If the TV screen is too big for the room, it's counter productive.

Years ago, we were living in a small caravan and my dad took our 14in TV to the repair shop. They lent us a 26in jobbie to watch while we waited for ours to be mended. It was horrible. In the end, my dad put it outside on a box and we watched it through the window.

Sigh..should have pm'ed me mate. MrsB works for the dark side and they always have some of "friends and family" offer on. I'm guessing that's what young Mr Eckles got for Kin.
