I think you are misunderstanding a lot of the sentiments here

As a musician and performer he surely has legendary status. One of the biggest selling artists of all time. A worldwide star from a child to his death. Writing that sentence does not mean I or others condone any of his unsavoury at best or illegal at worst (never convicted but lets assume so to make it easier for you) acts in his life off the stage, or even display any sympathy. I am merely able to compartmentalise the various components of a very complicated, very damaged but also very talented man

yeah good post.

What is music? It's not just a clever arrangement of sounds, it's a recording and expression of emotion. If I have major issues with some of the emotions and sentiments of the artist (Jackson for me I don't know, but Glitter for example), I can't enjoy the stuff any more, it taints the music. I can't put any of his stuff on and appreciate the music without the other stuff coming to mind.

i have briefly read through this thread and i am going to avoid getting into debates. I personally really admire what MJ has done for music and i feel that the music industry has lost a huge talent. check out this video of jeffrey daniels dancing on TOTP2 (he was MJ's dance teacher and you can see where he got his influences from). It makes me cringe at points yet at other points its so good....

The funny thing is this has worked before.

MJ cancelled a concert and the organisers came up with the brilliant idea to refund the ticketholders by sending each of them a cheque for the value of the ticket which had been 'personally signed by Michael Jackson himself'.

It worked - a great many people didn't cash the cheque because they wanted to keep it! The organisers and MJ himself were quids in.

AEG may as well have issued a press release saying 'here's how stupid we think these people are'.

I just think the shameless profiteering of someone who is hardly cold in his coffin is sick beyond belief.

Surely they were insured ffs.

But yes, people are stupid.

Apparently they were only insured for the first 10 concerts!

I didn't know there was child porn?

Bottom line is he's a nasty man who sadly gets out of prison very soon. Sad

Sorry for not knowing the nuances of the prison system, but a guy who gets 6 years will serve a minimum of how long?

It's something like 1/3rd off for parole and 1/3rd off for good behaviour so 2 years.

Good point.

But from what I've heard they're just desperately trying to mitigate their losses rather than profit.
