having just finished my degree and found out that there are approximately 3 jobs available in the economy at the moment im starting a gap year. having done a bit of thinking i figured that just playing poker for 12 months isnt my idea of the perfect year, but i dont know about what other stuff i should do. i fancy doing some volunteering type things abroad to see some parts of the world that i might not get such a good chance to see in the future as well as some normal travelling in maybe a slightly more developed part of the world. the only idea is i dont know where to go. anyone here know of any great places to go or schemes to get involved with?

I just stuck 'gap year volunteering' (without quotes) into google and it seems like there are loads of websites out there that have info on them.  Good luck!

I know you said poker isn't an option.. but

Ever considered being a pro poker player on the cruise ships.

I know a couple of people who have done it for a year and loved it, travelled the world and lived a life of luxury aswell as making money...

Don't go on a specific poker cruise, just go on a huge ship with a big casino, you will be playing just regular punters seeing where their luck takes them.

Just an idea...

Teach English in China yo

That's a good suggestion - Japan or Korea are other options too.  You've left it too late to get on some of the schemes that are well-organised, but there are still jobs for you if you go off your own back.  Great experience.

I've a mate wot does it. (although obv he ain't taught the English to me yet)

As well as full board and that and a bit of a wage, he gets lessons in calligraphy, meditation, kung fu and cookery.

He doesn't get Full Tilt points though, I get Full Tilt points that I can exchange for golf umbrellas. That's almost the same
