Read an interesting quote from Darvin Moon, main event chip leader. No idea about anything else in the hand other than I think blinds finished at 15,000/30,000 yesterday but does anyone agree with this or believe it actually happened :

"I had pocket kings one time and a guy pushed over the top of me for three quarters of a million and I mucked them. He’s got to have pocket Aces there, what else can he have?”

in all fairness there have been a couple of huge (good) laydowns too

I for one cannot wait to see the dennis phillips hands from yesterday - he appeared to be 3,4 and even 5 betting for fun............... i just cant believe he didnt have the goods everytime, however, if any one of the times he had less than KK, i will be impressed - given his showing last year.

noah raises pre, pham and 1 other call. Flop A9A, check,noah bets, pham raises, other guy folds, noah calls.. turn 5, noah checks, pham bets biggish, noah says "i should have folded the flop, i know u have two nines" and folds. Pham flips 99.

Darvin Moon is a pub / charity poker game player from West Virginia (one of the poorest states in the US). He's been playing just three years and has never played online / never played a tournament outside of his home state. Probably, what makes him a winner in those games is the discipline to sit tight and wait for good starting hands, then bet them strongly. One should probably not underestimate the profound psychological effect on him of playing in this type of tournament, so deep, and for so much money.

He's wrong in what he is saying in that pokernews interview, and probably has a deeply flawed approach to poker theory in general. So what? He hasn't claimed to be good, just seems like an ordinary enough fellow who can't believe his good fortune to this point.

Over analysing anything he does at the table or says off it too deeply is a waste of your time.

Its hard when we dont know what else happened in the hand!

If he re-raised a re-raise or a 2nd re-raise he could have been massive.

All i'm saying is that Moon is chip leader of the november 9. He's been involved in the action for 8 days, can really comment on his play apart from praising it

I spoke to Darvin Moon a couple of times.

He basically said the deck's been smacking him in the face.

"If I don't hit cards like the way I have been over the past few days, everyone at this table is a better player than I am."

I think he's a pretty humble guy who acknowledges he's been very lucky in the run-in to the final.

My favourite quote comes from Steven Begleiter.

"'I'm dancing between raindrops in the middle of a minefield and somehow I'm still standing."
