Interesting one this, i think you are behind now.......i'd say he has either a high ace or a high pair so you're in a world of hurt.
I'd like to say fold but it's hard to do it!!
I would have played it the same as you did, the King is a killer card though.

Just as a note, this was the very first hand I played on the table, so I knew nothing about my opponent.

This is very tough. he had raised from EP so we should give him credit for a decent hand, then he check raises you on the flop . I think you flop bet is a little weak here and he may of read it as that and has decided that as an EP raiser he can represent a monster here ( or he actually has one) . He bets the full pot this shows knowledge of the game. The only hands you are losing to at this point are pocket 3's pocket aces or pocket jacks. i dont think he has pocket 3's from his position though iy must be considered. aces and jacks are possible but unlikley given your holding. I think you should reraise here as you are likley to be ahead.
The turn is a nasty nasty card he now bets 40 into a pot of around 70, is this a bet because he is 1st to act and doesnt want to be bet off the hand? it could well be. if you call will he check the river? or rmove in? If you call this turn bet you could vwey well be playing for all of your chips.
I think a fold is the right answer but I know that I could not do it , I would check call al the way.
to me his most likley holding here is KK your bet on the flop looks to me like a bet with a weakish ace and tho he is behind he feels that he can represent a higher kicker than you or even AJ .

Although i say you should have reraised the flop i appreciate that you have top 2 pair and are looking very good at this point , i only say reraise cos I know the K is coming on the turn. I would have played this the same as you but my bet on the flop would have been the full pot.

please dont tell me he had q 10 suited

He's in relatively late postion.

He's seat 1, I'm seat 4.

I wanted him to think my flop bet was weak so he would raise. I called because I was tyring to trap him, not because I was worried about what he had. I think if I was worried about his hand, I might have considered reraising to find out how strong he actually was.

The problem was the king on the turn. Possibly the worst possible card. This would mean that KK, QT, AK has just outdrawn me. The 1st and latter being very possible holdings.

It's a very tough 1 mi thinks. I used all my time to make my decision.

I'm big blind. He's in the cut-off.

HH says 'snoopy1239 posts big blind'.

The 4 is my seat number from the dealer.

Ok I am still confused tho HH says

 DaFuttBucker posts small blind [$1].
roundman posts big blind [$2].
snoopy1239 posts big blind [$2].

I assume you post out of bb cos it was your 1st hand. anyway enough of my poor hand history reading.

If he is later in the action then we can expand his rangq which causes even more of an headache KK is less likley, his raise is strong which indicated weakness to me KK generally wants a call in a cash game. AK is a strong possibility and now Qt rears its ugly head as a potential stealing hand. I think he has   Do I get a prize?
You know what he might even have ace 3 and thinks he is ahead after trying a steal and hitting 2 pair now he is deep into the pot he cant face putting it down and is hoping he is still ahead. You call and the river is a 3 yeah?

ifm's right.

I'm having a senior moment and fully retract any previous mocking.

I forgot that this was my first hand and that when it says I post the big blind, that it's because I've only just sat down.

Soz all.

ps. ifm is actually quite old.
