Sounds like antivirus software but it's actually a 'ransomware' virus with trojans, and is a total utter bitch. I have it now and have a full set of tools for scanning but I cannot run most programs, the virus has stopped me from doing that. Have run a couple of COM files in Safe mode but otherwise it's mission f***ed. It won't let me run system restore. Any advice appreciated.

Ouch, I think I had this one last year. Your only real option, sadly, is to wipe your HDD and reinstall Windows I believe.

Should be pretty easy to remove, just google it.

In a way it is, there are tools and procedures, I just kind of can't quite reach them. There are registry editing procedures but regedit won't run, just 'what do you want to open it with?', it makes all progs written for it fail to run. Tried the online scanners, they crap.

can you open up windows explorer then goto tools > folder options > file types.

If there is a file type for exe files or executables and you can remove that then you might be able to open progs.
