I'm not a Chelsea fan but this ban is an absolute outrage, how many other teams are going unpunished for similar offences or worse. Token gesture fine would have been more appropriate, would expect Chelsea to challenge this ruling successfully. This may work for them in a way too though as could be used as a motivating factor.

So how many windows will Man U, Real Madrid, Man City, and many others be banned for?

This.

Unfortunately no G14 club will ever be banned like this. Utd and Real are pissing themselves.

G14 no longer exists and when it did there were teams like PSV, PSG, Ajax Porto & Leverkusen amongst its ranks. Chelsea are one of the most powerful clubs in world football at the moment so not really sure where you're coming from?

To call it an absolute outrage is laughable, just because teams have been getting away with it for years doesn't make it right. Roma have already been done for similar and long may it continue until the message finally gets through.

Yeah I know that but the real power is with the giants of European Football.

You will NEVER see Man U Barca Real Milan play behind closed doors or get transfer bans.

Chelsea do not draw huge revenues to the champions league pot. They are the largest team without power that you can make an example of.

It's only the same outrage as Eduardo's ban - entirely correct, but totally unimplimentable.

Well we'll see soon - Le Havre are reporting United to FIFA over alleged tapping up of Paul Pogba, another 16 year old.

Seems a couple of things are getting confused (I was the same TBF)

This is not about tapping up.

This is about willfully encouraging someone to break their contract and signing a player whilst he is still under contract.

Have to admit the below is copied from "early Doors" but it seems to be supported by others and this sums it up well enough;

Quote
The sections of FIFA's transfer regulations cited in the DRC's judgement (article 17, paragraphs three and four) are headed: "Consequences of terminating a contract without just cause."

Quote
The articles also spell out very clearly the punishments - a four-month ban (six in some circumstances) for the player, a transfer ban of two registration periods for the club and financial compensation based on the value of the contract.

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/66/98/97/statusandtransfer_en_2505.pdf rules and punishment link.

I doubt this will be come a small fine all of a sudden.

and unfortunately it's unlikely to mean that Real and ManU will get spanked for tapping up.

Lens warned Chelsea this would happen if they went ahead and signed him up. Chelsea turned around and offered 100k ish!, this was refused and Kenyon + Arnesen walked away thinking it was over Smiley

I keep hearing that the chelsea players are ageing. Are there some players that don't age?

And the Stoke fans sang "you're not signing any more" today which tickled me anyhow.

if the penalty is upheld are chelsea going to be able to meet the quota of homegrown players that comes in next season without promoting academy players who aren't ready to the first team squad?

lol @ the "home grown" quota...the biggest joke in football. Hargreaves is a German but Cesc Fabregas is eligible.

but yes, they will...Skysports had a table up this morning and I think Chelsea have 9 players or something.

surely that's because of this seasons cl homegrown quota. would any have made the bench without the new rule? I've not even looked at the teamsheet so have no idea
