I've finally earnt the rite of passage by clocking up 300 posts, so here goes:

The event

The English Poker Open is at Dusk Til Dawn next Tuesday, 15th September. The intended buy-in is $5000 (+$300 reg fee), but I have managed to buy a package throuh RaketheRake for $4,500.

I am anticipating that the field will be very mixed. At the top, a few of the big name American pros will be there, but there will be a good number of weaker players and satellite qualifiers.

My record

I am a consistent winner on $5/10+, previously on 32Red, and now on Blue Square.

I have a decent live record, including two GUKPT final tables last year.

It can be viewed here: http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=54053

September will be my busiest ever month for live poker, so I'm looking to spread the cost a little.

The price

I have decided on a price of 1.2, relative to the true price of the seat ($5,000). This is mark up of 1.33 relative to what I paid. So, I will be selling in bundles of:

10% = $600
5%= $300
2.5% = $150

Payment

This is potentially awkward, as I do not have an active account on Stars or Tilt. However, payment at the venue is OK, or (preferably) bank transfer. The % is yours as soon as you transfer the money.

Would've had some of this if I wasn't in a period of fiscal turbulence.

Hey guys, will give as much of an update as I can before I pass out! I'll do a proper update tomorrow, and do my usual video.

I'm going back tomorrow with 18,900. I had a lucky start to the day, as I had all my chips in with a set of jacks on KJ10, against an American kid's AQ. It was going to be an early exit as we got it all in on the flop after the pot was 3-bet preflop, but the river came a jack!

Lucky lucky, up to 20k, and the next four hours could not have gone any better. Good flops and perfect table positions, and I found myself with 50k.

I was incredibly active, and could feel Karl and one other ready to 3-bet all in with the perfect stack. I raised to 1,100 at 200/400 (25) with A10 off, and a fishy player flatted the button. Karl pushed all in for 6,900 from the big blind, and it felt like I was well ahead of his range. I called, and agonisingly the button went all-in. He had actually made absolutely the right play with ace-king, and I painfully passed for 12.5k more, contributing 7k to the pot.

The downfall continued as Jamie Brown (the other really active player) opened the cutoff to 1,600, I 3-bet ace-queen to 4,500, and the tight big blind shipped for 11,000. I was painfully obliged to calll given the odds, and couldn't beat ace-king.

Down to 32k, with two hours left to play, I opened queens to 1,100 on the cutoff. Scott O'Reilly made a standard push for 8k with Ad4d. Snap, first card ace.

I groudn back up to 32k ten minutes before the end of the day when Jamie opened again, a young guy in the cutoff committed himself for his 27k, and I found kings on the button. He had nines, and I was looking good for a 55k pot. Nine on the turn.

It had me down to 4k with six minutes to play, and I was ready to die. Almost bizarrely, however, I had four spots to move in in the last five mintues, only got called once, and had the significant consolation of 4k becoming 18,900.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
