Interesting I feel
Quoted from pokernews.com's excellent coverage:
Quote:
"Camel Gets the Hump
Not because he's lost a big pot or anything -- but Keith "Camel" Hawkins, newly moved to the upstairs feature table, has fallen foul of the TV crew.
As is common among poker players, he was perched on two chairs, stacked one on top of the other, but this was apparently preventing one of the cameras from seeing the relatively diminutive figures of Men Nguyen and Arnaud Mattern across the table.
"But my back and neck were hurting," Camel was complaining to the director. Nevertheless, he eventually gave in and now has just one chair like everyone else."
I hate this kind of thing. Keith is an unsponsored professional player who stumped up his own 10k to play in the event. He may or may not be pleased to get the TV coverage, but he's at the Empire to win the 800k.
If he has a bad back and wants to sit higher, or stand up for that matter, then he should be allowed to do so. I can't imagine the director asking Phil Hellmuth to lower his chair because he's too tall, or not to get up and walk around the table as it spoils his shot.
Can you imagine a director running onto the pitch and and asking the defensive wall to move so they can get a better shot of the player taking a free kick?
Players like Keith need to focus and concentrate at all times, they need to be physically comfortable and they certainly don't need to have to deal with conflict or interference from outside parties.
Of course the TV coverage is important, and some concessions, like holding the cards over the cameras, and being miked up, have to be made. But I don't think TV crew should ever be approaching players and giving them directions during the game. If they have an issue they should approach the TD and let him decide if it is appropriate to ask a player to do something.
Maybe there are times when it's really necessary, but ESPN have made enough poker shows by now to know the score. Poker players come in all shapes and sizes, some sit still and some move about. They should set their cameras in such a way that they can record the game with minimal disruption to the players.
Maybe they should have asked Men the Master to sit in a high-chair, he certainly throws his toys out of his pram often enough".

If it's affecting his back or general comfort in any way, he should tell them to GTFO...I know I would!

Great Post Tighty.
I alluded to the same thing about another Televised Tourney a week or two ago, & was curtly asked "are you real?".
Poker players ARE inconvenienced by some TV Crews, & that especially goes for ESPN. A little give & take on both sides would go a long way. The players have accepted the inconvenience, now the TV Crews have to cut them a bit of slack, too.
Before play began, by the way, ALL players were instructed that ANY Logos on Hats MUST be removed, or Taped Over. And the Tourney was delayed 20 minutes whilst the Logo Police checked every player.
When the players are not getting a penny of Added Value, how can a TV Company tell them what they can, & cannot, wear?

is there is no added value then it is quite wrong for them to have any say in what players do

The ironic thing is that it was an ESPN guy who suggested I double chaired because there apparently are zero cushions in the Empire Casino.
These guys really do nt give a damn about poker or poker players. Read the ridiculous stories Joe Beevers tells in the thread on THM.
Bastards. If I'm lucky enough to win, I will make sure the victory interview is worth listening to!
I'm sorry to admit I busted Julian
with AA v 88 with about 40 left.
I finished with 330k which is slightly above average and I'm hoping I spend as little time as possible on the feature table tomorrow and as little time playing with Arnaud Mattern as possible too. The guy totally owned me today, he's a monster.

2009 WSOP GOLD BRACELET WINNER MATT HAWRILENKO (BOSTON, MA) IS CHIP LEADER WITH TWO DAYS TO GO IN WSOP EUROPE MAIN EVENT CHAMPIONHIP
Matt Hawrilenko, from Boston, MA is the current chip leader at the WSOP Europe championship event. Hawrilenko, who won more than $1 million for first place in Event #56 at this year’s WSOP ($5,000 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em) enjoys a slight chip lead as play now enters Day Four and players have finally reached the prize money (36 players still alive). · Hawrilenko won is first gold bracelet on July 2nd and collected $1,003,218 for first place.

TWO NOVEMBER NINE FINALISTS – ANTIONE SAOUT (FRANCE) AND JAMES ANKENHEAD (ENGLAND) – STILL IN AT WSOP EUROPE
Two players who made it to the final table at this year’s WSOP Main Event are still alive in London. Two “November Nine” finalists – Antione Saout and James Ankenhead – remain in the top 36 and have reached the money. France’s Antione Saout is currently ranked 24th in chips. England’s James Ankenhead is ranked 30th in chips. Both players hope to at least match Russian Ivan Demidov’s impressive feat from last year. Demidov, the runner up in the 2008 WSOP Main Event also final tabled at WSOP Europe in 2008, finishing third.
POKER LEGEND DOYLE BRUNSON COMFORTABLY IN MIDDLE OF THE PACK, WITH 36 PLAYERS LEFT
How cool would it be for Doyle Brunson to win a record-tying 11th WSOP gold bracelet in London? Just about everybody on the poker planet is pulling for “Dolly,” except his opponents perhaps (and even a few of those would certainly make Doyle their favorite pick if they can’t win themselves). Doyle remains “the Man.” There may be thousands of quasi-Cincinnati Kids out there, but there is only one figurative Lancey Howard sitting in our game and he’ll sit down tomorrow with about an average-sized stack of 246,500 hoping to write yet another memorable chapter in what has been an astounding life. Doyle has now made it into the money in the WSOP Europe Main Event, proving yet again that he hasn’t lost a step after sixty years in the game. His play tomorrow will be followed closely by countless fans around the globe who look to him for inspiration. May we all have Doyle’s grit and determination when we reach our twilight years. Go Doyle!
BRITISH FOOTBALL STAR TEDDY SHERINGHAM STILL ALIVE IN WSOPE CHAMPIONSHIP
English football star Teddy Sheringham is hoping to become a two-sport champion. The famous 43-year-old footballer, known primarily for formally playing for Manchester United and England’s World Cup soccer team, remains very much alive in the WSOP Europe championship. Sheringham, who resides in London, currently has 272,000 in chips, which is about average for this stage of the tournament. What's Sheringham's gooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaal? To win.
LAST WOMAN STANDING AT WSOPE – LIZ LIEU FIGHTING FOR HER FIRST WSOP WIN
Liz Lieu has been called “the best female poker player not to have won a WSOP gold bracelet.” While some may argue that distinction, there’s no disputing Lieu’s incredible table talent. She has played high stakes poker for many years and has performed quite well in major tournaments. Lieu, from Las Vegas, is the last remaining female player in this year’s WSOPE Main Event. If she wins, she would become the second female winner at WSOPE. The first year of the tournament, Annette Obrestad, from Norway, won the championship. Lieu has some serious catching up to do and must perform well on Day Four, which begins tomorrow. She currently ranks 26th out of 36 players who remain.
PLAYERS NOW IN-THE-MONEY – DOYLE BRUNSON, DAVE “DEVILFISH” ULLIOTT, STEVE ZOLOTOW, CHRIS BJORIN, JOHN KABBAJ, BARRY SHULMAN, DANIEL NEGREANU, MEN “THE MASTER” NGUYEN ARE STILL ALIVE
Several former WSOP gold bracelet winners remain very much alive in this year’s WSOPE championship. This is one of the most star-studded tournament fields of the year, which promises to provide an exciting final two days for poker fans all over the world.
NO REPEAT CHAMP: LAST YEAR’S WINNER, JOHN JUANDA ELIMINATED EARLY ON DAY THREE; INNAUGURAL WINNER ANNETTEE OBRESTAD ELIMINATED MID-DAY
Both of the previous WSOP Europe champions were knocked out on Day Three. The first star to fall was John Juanda, from Las Vegas. The four-time gold bracelet winner, who was the defending champ in this event, fell short in his quest for a repeat victory. Just a few hours later, 2007 champion Annette Obrestad followed Juanda to the rail. This now guarantees that the 2009 Main Event will produce a new winner.
BIG POKER NAMES CONTINUE TO FALL
Notable players who did not survive day two included – John Juanda, Todd Brunson, Ben Roberts, Freddy Deeb, Jani Vilmunen, Joe Beevers, Antonio “the Magician” Esfandiari, Annette Obrestad, Amnon Filippi, John Tabatabai, Philip Tom, Farzad Bonyadi, and others.
GETTING READY FOR DAY FOUR – DOWN TO 36!
The WSOP Europe Main Event continues play at noon on Wednesday. Play on Day Four will last until the final table (nine players) is reached. World Series of Poker Europe championship event coverage and results will run daily through 2 October.
