Ex girlfriends, PLO and rebuys.

With regards to DTD's new opening hours, I am surprised, but pleased at the same time.
When Rob Yong made his decision a while back to close two days a week and kill the bingo rebuys, I applauded the decision as did many others, for the rebuy was killing the ethos of the place and the dealers and other staff were clearly exhausted.
So why make the change now?
Won’t we still have exhausted staff and a saturation of tournaments with not enough players to fill them?
The rebuys going back onto the schedule is not my cup of tea, but I defend everyone's right to choose to play in them if they wish.
The addition of
affordable
PLO tournaments is an excellent addition however and the round of each event sounds superb. Well done to DTD for putting these in the schedule.
My worries are that the club is perhaps looking in the wrong place. In my humble opinion, the numbers are down in tournaments (and the cash games to a lesser extent) because of the higher juice.
We know that this was forced on the club by the gov****ent, so the addition of the gambling machines is unfortunate but understandable and I for one don’t have a problem with it - again you pays your money, you takes your choice. You don’t have to play them but those that do will be helping keep the club going.
I love DTD and can’t imagine a better place to play poker in the known universe. But the new changes concern me a little. I just hope we don’t end up going down the same road once more. It's going to be like meeting up with an old girlfriend - great for a while and then you remember why you split up.
Maybe the club has other plans of which I am not aware. Maybe they have enough dealers to cope. Perhaps the new gaming machines are making a positive difference to the numbers.
In any case, I wish the club well.

I think that the point of the new schedule is to acommodate more poker players across the board with the extra two days that DTD will be open. There are unquestionably many players who far prefer to play smaller rebuy tournaments than FO's and as many of those are "action" players it can only be a good thing to cater to them as the cash games will reap the benefit afterwards.
I like the new schedule especially for the inclusion of the PLO and ROE but I honestly think that it caters to the tastes of all poker players and I reckon it will be a big hit, in fact I'll give it five <in a strong Brummie accent> for those who are old enough to remember juke box jury.
