Since I switched from BT to Sky broadband several months back I have not been able to log onto PartyP who tell me that it is a firewall issue.

Now I remember when my techy-man set the new thing up for me he informed me that i didn't need a firewall as my new modem thingy had a firewall built into it.

So in words of one and two syllables and possibly with diagrams to aid my techno-dunceness could some patient and kind soul please try and explain what I should be doing to reinstate my connection.

Party said the first semi-plausible thing to get you off the phone.

I'm on Sky and Party connects just fine. A quick check suggests Party only use port 443 which shouldn't cause you a problem - can you get to https://www.google.com/accounts/Login ?

Should be an IP address on the bottom, tap this into your internet browser and log in.
Play around with the settings.

The google page was just to confirm that you could access https pages - the same type of connection Party uses.

Click on this link: http://192.168.0.1. Username is sky, password is admin. That gets you logged into your router.

Is your router black or white? (The menu structure is different on each model)

OK, click here - it's the admin login for your router. Same as above but without the broken link.

Once logged in click on Security at the top then Firewall Rules.

Anything listed there?

Neither link works for me although the first one tried to connect and then said something about being reset first.
