I used to have Sky telly a few years back and was considering going back to them, but after my wife had phoned up to enquire how much etc I felt like it was a right rip off.

Ok, all we want is a basic minimum package and  Sky Sports.   No phone, no internet, no HD nothing extra, just the Sky+ box and said channels.  I was quoted something like £36 a month plus £30 installation and £50 for the box!!!

FFS, I've already got the damn dish from before and all the dude would do is plug the box in!

Is there anything I could do to get Sky cheaper?

I can't even go to Virgin cos it aint down our street due to the miserable old feckers not wanting a bit of their garden being ripped up when laying the cables.

yeah, tried the, I'm gonna cancel sky bit and no offers were forthcoming, hence no Sky TV now and not having the sport is killing me.

If I had a Virgin down our street I could get a dodgy box n stuff but it's not to be aaarrrggghhh!

I installed my own dish and box, dead easy really, but don't attempt it without this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Konig-Satellite-Finder-Signal-Meter-With-Patch-Lead-BN_W0QQitemZ350112386758QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ConEle_SatCableFreeview_RL?hash=item5184530ec6&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

and preferably another person to shout at you from indoors unless you can hear the meter easily enough from the dish.

Or you could just have the meter at the dish with you. Short length of coax direct from dish to meter for setting up dish.

Put proper cable in afterwards.

It's a shame you don't need the landline and broadband as well as the sport as that works out to around £55 pm which I reckon is about as good a deal as there is.
