Player notes

I am trying to keep player notes, but find it hard to write down the information during the game. What would be ideal would be to have some sort of Electronic rollsdeck.
Does any one know if there are any out there?
Also, would like any advice of exactly what to keep in the notes.
At the present I am keeping:-
the starting hands
what type of player they are (solid, a Pot chase or a player who only plays the top dozen or so hands).
wether or not they were caught bluffing
would appreciate any help

I assume you mean online?

There is usually a player notes facility on most online sites.

Keep the info brief, & use abbreviations.

For example, I use "R" - Rock, ""M", Maniac, "P", Player, "VL" Very Loose, "CS" Calling Station", "AIM", At It Merchant, "A2N", A-2 Nutter, "Avoid", Camel...........

"Avoid", Camel? I was chatting with him & Thewy in Deauville, & me & Camel were in the last 18 of the EPT biggie. Thewy, who had a financial interest in both of us & was freerolling, said it would be nice if tikay & Camel got heads-up in the Final, (yeah right....) so Thewy would make a tidy scoop. Quick as a flash, Camel says "me & tikay heads-up? - I'd love that, it would be so easy, in fact I would not even have to look at my cards". Damn that man.

I find the hardest part is symbolising what game type my note is from. I use (O) for Omaha, (CO) for Omaha cash game, and (OC6) for a 6 table Omaha cash game - I'm sure there's a better way.

I play Ladbrokes. One of the most annoying things is when it gets round to you, it stops you from completing your note. Probably done intentiionally though so you don't delay play. Still frustrating.

If you are serious about note taking try doing it as an observer instead of as a player. Boring yes, but very, very useful.

The hardest players to take notes on are the ones who mix it up. If you watch as an observer you can tally what they do from hand to hand to earn great financial rewards. I find this especially essential if you play online cash games.

always take notes as you will encounter the same players if playing at the same level for a prolonged period of time.

i have/used to have loads of notes on will hill but i had a bit of a problem with the software so i uninstalled and reinstalled it. does this mean i have lost all my notes..

yes, probably. I made exactly the same mistake a while ago. Started taking notes again, though, and within two weeks I've reached the point where I have notes on at least two people on any SNG table I play at, so it's not too bad, I suppose.

On sit and goes I use sharkscope.com to get a quick idea of whether each opponent is a winning or losing player and add that to their notes b4 the tournie starts. I then add my own brief description of their play as tourney goes on.
Main issues I note are type of player - rock, calling station etc - if they chase flush/straight draws, slow play/check-raise and scale of starting hands followed by whether they consistently then lead out the betting after the flop.
So many do that a gentle post-flop re-raise, no matter what I hold, often takes down the pot.
Don't note that about me, though, please!

i'm suprised that knowone has responed to that admission.

it was my understanding that it was the concencus of most poker players that the use of sharkscope and similar pieces of software were frowned upon.

I have to say not by me though.

i dont use it but can see how impotant and advantagous it can potentialy be

i fancied that when this site was in its infancy it was a prelude to a subscription service and would be intersted to know haw many people use, or know of someone that uses this application?

as well as if it is as frowned upon as i was led to believe?
