Ok folks help please.
My internet connection is pathetic and only some sites are working whilst some are working at postie speed (2 days later) just so happen none of the broadband site are working !!!
Looking for decent or unlimited use allowance, speed isn't an issue as i have 2mb and thats enough (when it works) although to switch i'd expect more but not not really needed. No cable and exchange isn't unbundled. Postcode ky103hg if it helps.
Would consider switching phone to get the right deal. Sky do 40gb for £17 but i wanted slightly cheaper or no cap. Currently £14.99 with aol no cap but lately it's gone bad hence i want to switch.
Any help appreciated.

The only downside to cable other than the fact they are to tight to come to the country is that the tv isn't as good as sky.
Any more bragging about the best broadband and i'll ask Kev to slap you.

i know that feeling you might find that the local exchange is getting busier and busier and thats causing your broadband slowing down and more than likely you isp is having tech problems i am nearly 2 miles from my local exchange used to get 2.5mb broadband in those days i was one of only a few on the exchange with broadband nowadays there are over 2 dozen visable wireless connections near my house and my speed is less than 1mb |

It's happened 3/4 times in 2 months.
I can be downloading something and it is normal but try to connect tobbc web page or my bank etc and it says connection problem then try blonde and it's fine. Aol tell me my ruter is connected fine and still some sites have issues and others don't and it varies which ones.
Slow speeds i can handle but 10 mins to load bbc is a bit ott especially when it's "your computer" even though you've tried 3 different ones whilst on the phone.
Just finished downloading top chef and i can't access the broadband comparison sites all that time but can get into blonde, sky, virgin

No LLU restricts your choice somewhat. Do *not* go for Sky - their non-LLU product called Connect is horrific for throttling and traffic shaping.
Cheap, no cap, good quality - most providers can do 2 out of 3. None do 3 out of 3.
Zen, IDNet and Plusnet are all pretty good.

Depends how much you want to pay. Plusnet Pro is 20Gb a month for £20. After 20Gb you pay £2 for 2Gb but Midnight till 8am is free,it is not unusual for me to download 200Gb for my £20. |

Normal browsing use is unaffected by throttling,the same as if you are a long way from the exchange and get slow speeds anyway it would not be noticable.
I used to do a lot of online motor racing and throttling screwed that up,so I used the Pro.

the best speed they say they can offer me is 0.5mb think i will stick to what i have just now |

Managed to get aol to make the net usable again  http://www.pipex.co.uk/business/broadband/lite/25gb limit between 1800-2300 unlimited for the rest of the time. Upto 24mb (8 max for my line) just under £17. Seems like a good option and faster than sky if the line improves. Gotta buy a new router but i can live with that. Cheers for the advice. Sandy |
