Broadway have a £1k event starting yesterday with day 1b today where they Gaurantee £100,000.
Just spoken to George who is there and at 8.22 pm they still havent started when the start was meant to be 19.00. Apparently there was only 33 runners yesterday and only 27 tonight at 18.45. They delayed the start and have started offering to put people in for free and the players get to keep 10% of any prize money. Now surely this is incredibly imoral?
They now have the numbers at 42 after finding 15 people to put in on a freeroll. Word has got out what has happened and now quite a few are withdrawing in protest i.e. John Eames has pulled out and John Perrin and a few other blondes are thinking about it.
I cant believe Broadway have done this but suppose when your putting £40k into the comp you go to desperate measures.
Just shows how good DTD were about it when they had a huge overlay.
What do you guys think about this?

Just had another call from George after a few have withdrawn and walked out.
Apparently their was an announcement over they speakers saying: -
"Could all players that have been registered by the casino please go to the poker desk as we are withdrawing you"
Think they eventually realised it was a completly illegal move to make.

Think I would pull out under principle and probably not play at broadway again. I mean where does this crap end if people don't make a stand against it.
In this case I think I am right in saying that George is being backed by yourself and a few others, therefore would have to consult my backers about the decision if possible. Obviously in theory this is a very +ev spot with presumably weaker opponents on a freeroll and still some overlay.
I would be steaming if I was one of the 33 who entered on Thursday.

Oh dear.
Just shows its mighty dumb to go head to head with the DTD deepstack and some in Vegas for Nov 9 and some on the way to Amsterdam
What a ridiculous guarantee to start with!

so what's happening then? All the 'freeroll' players are withdrawn and they're going to carry on and honour the guarantee?

Think someone had a quiet word in the managers ear and told them they could lose their casino license if word got out.
In theory if a freeroll player went on to win then the casino would make a big profit.
I think they are standing the £40k overlay.
Was very bad planning with 321, Amsterdam, Vegas and Blackpool GUKPT next week.

Don't think George pulling out would be the smartest move imo. Dont think anybody pulling out would be a good idea with only 60 runners and £100k gtd. Get it won George.

And now they're going to have the added problem of the players who walked out in protest at the 'freerollers' being put in finding out after the event that that's been stopped and they've missed out on a huge overlay. Complete Farce. And glglglgl to George.

They tried to do a betfair.
But betfair got away with it.
wp the players that withdrew.
lol @ the broadway giving a 10% freeroll.. you would think they could be a tad more generous than that!
