History: We have been playing for about an hour after buying in for 50BB each. I have stacked him once by grinding him down then letting him push all in with a gutshot straight flush draw against my top pair. I have not limped my button once in the session and this is hand 236ish. I have been opening about 50% of hands but haven't gone to showdown very much at all. He has started to min 3-bet and last time he did this, it was checked to showdown and he had a weak Ace. I have not 4-bet him at all yet pre. He hasn't 3-bet "properly" more than twice all session. I have always raised to 6 otb and 8 when I'm raising from the BB to his limp. My 3-bets have been varied numbers in the 20-30 range.
Reads: I have him as very weak-tight preflop. He loves to limp and I am isolating his limps a lot with barely any resistance, so I'm winning most hands preflop. He has a habit of cold-calling pre occasionally and donking the flop. I'm not putting up much resistance to this yet as he's generally doing this when I'm raising with absolute junk. I have C/R the flop a few times as well as flatted the flop and bet the turn, all to no resistance. I am able to bluff a lot post-flop as if he hasn't hit, he shuts down. I'm able to take free cards at will in position.
This hand: This is probably one of the weakest hands preflop I have opened with. I have already told myself that if he min 3-bets me, I'm going to 4-bet, mainly because I haven't done it at all and he's folded pretty sharpish to any particularly aggressive plays. When he min 3-bets me, I do 4-bet and have him squarely on a weak Ace and broadway cards and mid-high pp's when he calls. He'd have folded suited connectors and junk like that. On the flop he knows that I probably missed but I have been mixing it up, checking when I have top pair to give him a chance to catch up, and betting bluffs. I've also been checking and firing the turn with nothing and been getting no resistance there. When he checks, I know he has nothing, as he bets everything that hits that plus all his pp's. I can then reassess his range to Broadway cards plus weak Aces, in essence no pairs that are good at showdown.
When the turn hits I have top pair but a weak kicker and he leads into me. This worries me slightly but he is apt to do that with A9 and hands like J10, QJ, and all his Aces, as he probably figures that I've missed that flop and the turn is no good to me either. So I think I'm ahead and ship it in now, rather than flatting the river and seeing a lot of scare cards come out.
A bit spewy or not, do you think? I know it's only penny stakes but it still seemed like an interesting hand from both perspectives.
