Last chest session of the year today so I thought I'd give the 50s a whirl and see how they felt.

The target was to do the 50s at some point during the year so here we are. They're done!!

Need a new goal for next year. I'll think of something later.

Beasttttttttttt

32. are the heaviest I've done on DB Press and 80 on a bar so almost 2/3 of the way there Cheesy

Hardly say it's gonna be embarrassing Cosvaldo you're a lump too. You knock out 5 plates on bench so prob won't be far off 50s at a guess.

Just because of your post earlier I did chest today and decided to see what I could do.

I did a warm up set with the 60's (my dumbbells are all in lbs obv) and then a set with the 90's (which is 40.8kgs) and then did 3 reps of the 100lbs (which is the biggest the gym here has), equivalent to 45.3kgs and did 3 reps. Very happy with that. Finished with 3 sets of 12 reps of the 60's and then did cable crossovers, flyes, incline dumbell press and dips.

I kind of knew I could do them tbh. I've been feeling very strong the last few weeks and I knew that without any injuries I could do at least 2 or 3.

Got to the gym yesterday feeling good. Was going to do arms but then thought I'd have a blast at the 50s instead. I knew that if I did the 40s easy enough it wouldn't be a problem.

The 8 reps of 40s was far from failure so I was nicely confident.

I'm really happy to have done them although obviously I strayed away from the initial challenge by skipping a few steps.

Still a long way to go before I'm back where I was though. I used to do 12 to 14 reps of the 50s at my old gym. I never managed to go heavier because they only had 1 x 60 and the 70s were too big a step up.

Maybe my first goal for 2012 could be to see how far I can go with the 50s. I think 8 to 10 reps should be doable.

I quite fancy having a blast at bench press as well. I've never been a good bench presser. Max ever was 140kg and max now is 120kg for 3 reps. 100 is fairly comfortable but those extra few k's have always been tough.

So many choices.

You do them the same as big Ronnie Coleman?

Flat on your back, with them running end to end not parallel?

I do them like that except as I reach the top I turn the dumbells in toward each other to work my chest a little more.

Ronnie wouldnt do them like that because of balancing such a heavy/big weight
