As usual, well done to James and staff at the Circus      .....       don't forget their two day £75er (20k in chips) this coming weekend!

oi! you are on the list for the blonde bash. Now don't even think about letting me down!

I'd probably get chased out of Musk at Morn by all the Blondeites I've managed to pee off     ....     with Pedro Wigglebottom heading the lynch mob!

nah. See you there.

Putting alternates on the one table contravines the Gaming Laws, if what i was told by G cardroom Staff was correct

Don't believe this to be the case. They open new tables for alternates at The Venetian and Caesar's for two in LV.
Someone said in the past it's one of these Grosvenor rules. Wouldn't know for sure though.
How many were registered at 5.30, anyone know?

It is a Grosvenor application of their understanding of the UK Gaming Commission Rules (therefore what happens in Vegas is of no relevance here). Once Grosvenor Head Office issue the edict then all the clubs follow (much like the payout structures)

The objection, as I understand it from the GC, is that a team of 10 could turn up to a full comp, start their own "alternates" table, chip dump to one of the team and win the comp unfairly. Pretty unlikely of course, but that's the reasoning

Of course the solution is to open the right number of tables to begin with but that's not a precise science. Players don't want to start too short-handed, and there is no way of telling how many will turn up late. So if you start with 22, I can understand him opening 3 tables, not 4 or 5. I'd probably open 4 on a Sunday, 3 on a Monday, say if the same number are present at the start

At the end of the day, whilst the card-room manager might get things wrong..and there are a lot of variables to consider mostly outside his control, if the player turns up for the start he doesn't run the risk of not playing.

They do it at D2D too.  I've  also heard in the past that it's just a Grosvenor rule not to open more tables.

Dan told me they only had 7 runners at 5.30 yesterday so they delayed the start and kicked it off once they had 15 players and enough for 3 tables of 5.

I think it suited them to keep it to three tables as they'd had 3 dealers call in sick (funny that on a lovely sunny day!). Apparently almost as soon as they started, another 15 people quickly arrived.

I got there just after 6pm and was alternate number 6, but only 4 got in.

Meh, not much they can do I guess if only seven are there at kick-off time.

On a separate theme, please note I am available for pickage in the Fantasy WSOP competition...

As Chompy says, not a lot they could do is there? We all complain but if we get there on time then we know we are not running the risk of not playing.

It seems to have become the norm on a Sunday to stroll in at least half hour late

Alternates solved the old problem of getting caught up in traffic and not being able to play because Luton are playing at home

You cant sit down in a £100 freezout 4 handed just because you know Big Bill and Gutshot Gertrude will be in at some point

I`d rewind the alternates to half hour max and get the masses retrained

An easy solution to tardy registration is to give all players registered on time extra chips     ........       and just watch flock in!

Great shot Luther, but would they smash the clock or take a level out to compensate those annoying extra chips?

If only the Casino was open 24hrs,then they wouldn't mind us playing the pokers till the small hours

It is open 24hrs though if your playing cash apparently

Something needs to be done to get people there on time and this seems to be a good solution. The 75 chip penalty from a stack of 10k is nothing .

Incidentally I wasn't one of the people complaining - I agree its entirely your own fault if you take the risk of turning up late.

They already do it at The Western/Circus/Equal Chance/TCs to name but a few     ....      if you're late you're already 1/1.5 k behind, like Drainy     .....      simple.

In our local everyone starts with 10k...if they show up on time.  1k is taken from every dead stack at the tables once we kick off and late arrivals must play using one of the penalty stacks.  Is that not possible at the G?

So?!  If it's ok to ADD chips and/or take 75 off late players, why not take away a proper amount instead of adding any early bird bonus?  Especially when people don't like extra chips in play as it takes longer to play out.

Other option is to advertise it as a 9k starting stack with a 1k bonus for early birds to give them the original 10k.  Then everyone's happy.  No?
