maybe the answer is for people to get there late a few times, not get a seat, and then learn to turn up on time!

I agree
However it is equally fair to say that the venue is remarkably slow in introducing/seems remarkably resistant to the sort of innovations seen elsewhere eg the Grosvenor linked games, stack increases for being on time etc etc
I gather also there is a Summer series festival next month. Where are the satellites for these? I am not talking about the STT sats that are called out over the PA (Needing 10 of the 25 people present to play!) but the super sats with perhaps a couple of seats guaranteed, or added?
At some point next month, they'll wonder why the numbers are disappointing...there should have been weekly super sats for this (Sunday night? Monday night? Saturday?) for a month or so already.

The idea of 9k starting stack for latecomers and 10k for those registered by 5.30pm on Sunday makes perfect sense imo.
I'm sure that way at least a decent % of those planning on arriving late would get someone to buy them in early in order to nab the extra 1k in chips isn't it.
I'll suggest it to coco pops tonight.
[X] Sure will

Seventh is good for four points G-Rodge, which will be included when Drainy next updates the table in October...
I've bought out of my side bet with the zebra muncher for £100, so no longer have a financial interest in who wins the league. Hats off to the Miller fella, that sicko heater of two wins in two nights recently did the job.

Putting alternates on the one table contravines the Gaming Laws, if what i was told by G cardroom Staff was correct
Don't believe this to be the case. They open new tables for alternates at The Venetian and Caesar's for two in LV.
Someone said in the past it's one of these Grosvenor rules. Wouldn't know for sure though.
How many were registered at 5.30, anyone know?
They do it at D2D too. I've also heard in the past that it's just a Grosvenor rule not to open more tables.
Dan told me they only had 7 runners at 5.30 yesterday
so they delayed the start and kicked it off once they had 15 players and enough for 3 tables of 5.
I think it suited them to keep it to three tables as they'd had 3 dealers call in sick (funny that on a lovely sunny day!). Apparently almost as soon as they started, another 15 people quickly arrived.
I got there just after 6pm and was alternate number 6, but only 4 got in.
Norrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I now have it on good authoritah that players number 18 and 19 were both registered before 5.30pm.
Feeling ashamed for giving the G jokers the benefit of the doubt. Seems it
was
down to the fact they only had three dealers after all.
I feel dirty. Going for a shower.

Other option is to advertise it as a 9k starting stack with a 1k bonus for early birds to give them the original 10k. Then everyone's happy. No?
No. I'd be annoyed that I've paid the same amount of money but start with less chips than everyone else. Losing chips due to missed blinds is fine though as this is simulating my stack being sat there all along.
If people don't feel that losing 75 chips from a 10k stack is enough of a penalty then perhaps the structure is at fault. Don't see why any nightly tourney should be starting with 10k chips and a 25/50 level. Also, get them to remove chips for every level missed. Eg, run a 5k chip comp, player joins in level 3, take away 25+50, 50+100 and 75+150 = 450 chips from a 5k stack. Add to that the fact he's now starting with 30 bigs whilst everyone else has had chance to get a stack going and I think that is enough of a penalty.

Since Drainy became President of Blonde .......... he sure is 'hands on' with Chompy's old thread.
Maybe LRRH will teach him how to do a spreadsheet after he's changed the bedsheets.

LOL @ Loofy's abuse.
Just unfortunate timing as work is bonkers @ the mo so can't get near Blonde.
I did pre-warn the Chimpster that it could be a problem for me.
Just bad timing.
Made worse by iPhone going up the spout.
Anyways, I
might
update the league table thingy this evening, which will be suitably in advance of the October forecast.

OK, so points being added
when i can be arsed
to the league table as follows:
G-Rodge 4pts above for saver on sunday
Edna 15 fourth 1st in £40 on sat
Pizz 12 for 2nd in saturday's 8pm
China 9 pts for 3rd just behind pizz
Loofah 7 - for 4th in the kidz game on sunday
Claw 9 - for 3rd in ME on sunday
have i missed anyone's points from saturday or sunday?
I am assuming that they are all NORMAL points, so they all qualified with >= 25 runners but none were eligible for bonus points.

Some of us have genuine reasons for turning up late.... was 4th alternate and got in with 10 seconds to spare and didnt feel like playing by then..cheered up as joined nirvana and claw for some banter, with me and snitchy trying to decide who was wearing the gayest shirt..i won as mine was ironed...
tourney was painful start to finish best hand 66 ( folded pre to raise and re raise lolz )finally bowing out in 14th when Driton limped on the button folded to him with 44 and then called 9k more after a monster dwell, missed wide despite flopping a straight draw... 4 on the river was salt in the wound...wp sir...
