37 hardy souls ventured down to the G last night for the Monday 30-20-10 won by Popeye Johnson and his Plums. Well done him.

Included in the 37 were tikay, Dingdell, Claw, Rockstar, Snati, Winkie and some frankly ludicrous randoms

Special mention to Dingdell who delighted half her table with witty repartee, and completely baffled the other half. Well done on betting all three streets of a K-10-4-8-Q baord with Ace high and getting called on the end by worse.

The opponent, who looks like Disney's Quasimodo stunt double, uttered "I knew you had nothing". Yes mate, but neither did you!

MDD was in fine form. What is it about randoms that when presented with the presence of the venerable and curmudgeonly Lynch at their table makes them want to throw their chips at him like they are lemmings and his stack is the cliff?

Yours truly started well and then decided to open up. This sure went well as I did half my stack with 7-5 suited and the other half with 7-6 suited to the delightfully named Margherita Ioaucarpou.

I asked the fragrant Ms Ioaucarpou, after surreptitiously glancing at her rebuy slip, if she was from Cyprus (a question fraught with political overtones actually) and she replied "Yes, how did you know that?" Well love, I learnt all my deductive skills from watching Midsomer Murders, innit.

Oh yes Drainy sir, myself, Galloway and Manbag/Handbag will be present this evening to take on gravel-voiced John, Spanfish and all the others.
The first scrabble league results could well be forthcoming tomorrow morning imo.

Think you can probz add Ding, Evil Edna (who's compiled an extensive list of two-letter words in a bid to pwn me like on the pokers table), Boer Wars, Nirvana and Simon G (and Snat?) to the table.

Why we need a scrabble dictionary instead of a standard Collin's Clawbird?

Why we need a scrabble dictionary instead of a standard Collin's Clawbird?

because the standard dictionary doesn't have all the allowable scrabble words in it.  if we're gonna do it we should do it properly like the hard core pros imo

Wouldn't the use of the scrabble dictionary give an unfair advantage to Claw those that know the never-ending list of weird and wonderful, obscure two-letter words that don't appear in standard dictionaries?

Sigh - dead shattered, eyes hurt    .... but the lull of the 30 quid RB and scrabble are making me twitch .....

... besides, I have a scrabble dictionary here that I'm willing to donate (can't have CH10 MPY and MrDon'tThinkIdidn'tSeeYouLookInTheDictionaryBeforeYourGoWhilstIwasAtTheCoffeMachinePrew having any reason to win their games by refusing words that are soooo allowable obv.)

I predict Clairebear to win this league

I also predict CH10 MPY to develop an ulcer due to scrabble stress when it becomes apparent that his winning streak was only due to the fact he a) refuses to acjnowledge that ClawBird thrashed him legitimately and b) Celtic is now not allowed to help him by pointing out words he doesn't recognise which although Chimpy allowed and scored, two go's later decides to challenge and REMOVES from board .......   RULING, sigh.     Ridic.
