Its not reading any of my discs, games or DVD's. Have sniffed around online and restored factory setting and reformatted the hard drive as some have suggested, still no joy.

Suggestions on how to fix please?
Failing that, suggestions on where to get repaired? Seen a few online sites that do it for £80.

My ps3 conked out a while back and i fixed it by sending the fan into overdrive(did this about 3 times),found the fix on youtube,i think you turn on your console just holding the disc eject down, this may clean any crap off the laser reader.

If not there is an insurance firm where you can make a policy tonight (i think it was something like £6 a month)claim tommorow no probs.I found this on the ps3 forum.

I will have a look later if you cant find them.

LOL the fan thing make it sound like it's gonna take off,but it worked for me

Doh the insurance site was called "continous play" which has been shut down to new customers because people were enrolling then cancelling after the console was fixed, not that i was suggesting you do that.

Had exactly the same problem, but was in warranty on mine - called Sony, shipped it off (their cost), they sent me a refurb back (apparently couldn't repair mine). I think they'll do this for about £60(?ish?) if out of warranty.

Here.

Call 08705 99 88 77 is the gist of it. Doesn't have price though.

Might be worth reading here also. Seems like a typical quote from Sony is >£100, so a different repairer might be a better idea, or try your luck with the sale of goods act approach.
