Agree with Button. But it always tilts me when a formula 1 driver gets it.

anyone think that because hamilton won last year, and because button seemed to stumble accross the lin with a poor second half of teh season then button might be too short? problem is who else is there with hayes fight being box office not many saw it giggs might stir the man u faithfull to honour him as the pfa did last season dispite it not being his greatest but is there enough of them murray wont get it till he wins wimbledon strauss isnt likely as he hasnt the carisma of freedy or pietsen rest just wont catch the public imagination
so it looks like button but only cause ther are no serious challengers

If there is any sort of top 3 market or e/w available then cavendish is absolutley massive. Out of that list i would make him 3rd fav behind button and Haye.
The BBC love cycling, they love promoting it and more importantly hes going to have golden boy Chris Hoy saying how great amazing he is. The BBC will also probably get Redgrave weighing in about how good Cav was.
Jessica Ennis being 2nd fav thats rubbish. She might get a few votes because shes sexy but there will be too little focus on her to actually get votes. She didnt break a world record and it was hardly a strong field. The athletics section has to cover her, Idowu, Usain Bolt and that silly Berlin mascot oh and not forgetting how it wasn't Paula's year again.
Strauss has no chance, yes we won the ashes. But it was hardly a breath taking series. Oh and hes not Andrew Flintoff.
Ryan Giggs seriously? Calls from the far east are too expensive I'd get more votes than him.
Beth Tweddle- Not as good looking as Ennis and has a slightly amusing surname.
Haye- has a v good chance of winning it, but it all depends on the BBC. If we are told that he beat a giant with a damaged hand might have a chance. But knowing the BBC i'm guessing they are going to question the quality of opponent and say it wasn't anything very special.
Murray- zero chance
Tom Daley - He will never in his lifetime win it, unless he starts cycling or rowing in time for 2012.
Button- Yeah hes a big fav especially since the beeb got F1 back. But people don't always vote for the fav because they thing others will.
I make top 3 Button/Cavendish/haye
Im going to try and get all over Cavendish like a big old rash.

Two things in her favour are that she came back from serious injury to win and that it is a multi-event discipline, which people view as 'harder'. The public won't know that it wasn't a desperately strong year for the event.

There's been a bit of a plunge on Ryan Giggs since he scored at the weekend - into 9 on BF now. Makes absolutely no sense with Haye at 10.5 - no way has Giggs got more chance of winning than Haye.

Interestingly, here's the votes of the organisations that made-up the shortlist - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/sports_personality_of_the_year/8386785.stmThe Star on Sunday voted for Cristiano Ronaldo... Tom Daley actually tied for 10th with Andrew Flintoff, with no word on how the BBC split the vote. There are people on this list I have genuinely never heard of (Kevin Sinfield? Sam Davies?) 26 Jenson Button 25 Andrew Strauss 24 David Haye 22 Jessica Ennis 17 Beth Tweddle 16 Andy Murray 16 Mark Cavendish 13 Phillips Idowu 11 Ryan Giggs 10 Tom Daley ---------- 10 Andrew Flintoff 8 Bradley Wiggins 7 Wayne Rooney 6 Charlotte Edwards 6 Tony McCoy 5 Stuart Broad 4 Rory McIlroy 3 Amir Khan 3 Carl Froch 3 Catriona Matthew 3 Chrissie Wellington 3 John Higgins 3 Phil Taylor 2 Claire Taylor 2 Jamie Roberts 1 Chris Hoy 1 Cristiano Ronaldo 1 Dario Franchitti 1 Darren Fletcher 1 Gemma Spofforth 1 Gethin Jenkins 1 Jo Jackson 1 John Terry 1 Kelly Smith 1 Kevin Sinfield 1 Sam Davies 1 Victoria Pendleton
