It reallly doubt its devasting news for Cowell. They sold more due to this and it makes no difference in the bigger picture if he got number one or not. He has made MORE money from this false battle so who wins now?
Really all the knobs that bought into this are the losers.

What a bunch of idiots the British public are.
This has clearly been set up by the genius that is Simon Cowell
in order to boost the sales of 2 songs that he pwns large %'s of the rights to.
F you I won't do what you tell me.........
Unless you somehow manage to tell me really subtley so I don't notice and think I'm actually being smarter than you for once in my worthless sad life Mr Cowell sir.........
yeah cos simon set up the face book campaign, don't talk piss, he was desperate for Joe to win. He is his latest hot talent, and needs to try spin a star out of him, Joe not winning that No. 1 is a huge blow to joe and simon. Simon craves stature more than money these days
Joe's crap and Cowell knows it. He had to set something like this up in order to drum up some hype for the lad.
Unfortunately it went wrong because Cowell probably wanted Joe to win in order to give his career at least a thread of a chance.
As it stands Cowell has now found out how much the public really like Joe so he knows not to spend too much more money marketing him.
Not that his initial facebook campaign cost him more than 10 minutes of his time anyway.
True genius at work.
[ ] Nice read Matt
[ ] Cowell has the Royal Flush
I dont think Cowell really gives a shit, but if he planned it Ill give you 500 euros
You wont see penny one from me you slag

Sony and Syco were actually livid about the RATM thing but not because it happened, but because they didn't react quickly enough. If they wanted to, they could have pulled the RATM song out of iTunes, which would have killed the thing stone dead.
However, they were initially happy about it, because they thought it wouldn't challenge Joe for number 1, but would earn them a nice few bob. It took off so quickly though that by the time they realised it might win, it was too late to withdraw the song without sparking a huge public backlash against them, so they had to let it play out.
As it happens, I think Cowell does regard all this year's X-Factor crowd as a weak bunch and Joe will fade quite quickly. Alexandra Burke's album has sold badly and quickly slipped down the charts even though she is a much better singer than Joe.

Great piece of drivel there mate.
How the hell is a 5th or 6th or whatever x-factor number one going to change Cowell's stature one bit? He's achieved everything there is to achieve in the music industry and I would guess he does this purely because he enjoys it.
If it was stature and recognition he was after he would be off ballooning with Branson.

Something I didn't know until yesterday is that the couple who started the thing on Facebook tried the exact same thing with Rick Astley last year.

But control of what? Control of the singers or control of the music buying public?
He knows he has control of the singers because there's contracts in place. I guess that only leaves the public.

I couldn't care less about Simon Cowell.
I bought it cos I thought it would be comedy to see all the outcry, and because I thought it'd be epic to get RATM a christmas #1.

Control of the charts, the music industry, the publics opinions and who succeeds and who doesnt.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I like Simon Cowell and if he did start it Id like him even more, but I honestly think your wrong.
The point is that RATM is an amazing track that and having it as Xmas number is just pure jokes and no one thought it would actually get there.
Youve missed the point for most of us, in the words of one of Evilpies esteemed ex-employees its all about 'Catching Joke' nothing more

I think the Evilpie account on here is actually Simon Cowell who registered it purely to spread the word about what a great genius he is.

Ok I've had my fun for the day.
RATM is a quality song, just a shame that the radio edit lasts about 45 seconds.
Joe whatever his name is song is absolute tosh but a lot of people buy in to it because of the x factor thing. Can't fault that. If you like it buy it.
Simon Cowell is undoubtedly a business genius. You don't get where he is without being clever and capable of a bit of exploitation.
I obviously don't think that Cowell started this but when AndrewT mentioned the Rick Astley thing it does add to the slight possibility. It would be amazing if it turned out he'd choreographed the whole thing.

Next time someone sees Matt, ask him how much Cowell is paying him to say he's Evilpie.
