After the comp finished at Luton earlier this morning, Micky gave me £200 "to buy the blonde Updaters some dinner and a Christmas drink for them".

I gave £100 to snoops, & will give £100 to Jen.

What can I say, apart from "thanks Micky"?

top gent thumbs up

I'll have to confess my first impression of him was unfavourable though. He was giving a dealer a bit of a hard time at a comp in Brighton. Felt sorry for the dealer, who looked inexperienced, and Micky moaning that he wasn't doing things right did seem to put him further off his stride.
When I met him again in Blackpool though, he was dead nice to me. I thought, oh, he could actually be a nice bloke!

Hearing this story makes me think I'm a lousy judge of character. Tipping the updaters was a very thoughtful thing to do. In hindsight that dealer in Brighton was a bit of a lazy day-dreamer that may well have needed a boot up the bum from a broody Brum.

I've heard of dealer, doorman, and valet tips, but never one for the updaters. This was a smashing gesture and it comes fully appreciated. Many thx.

A quick word on Micky. He is without doubt one of the nicest guys I have met in poker. He's always got time to say hello, see how you are, and talk about the game. He's one of the few players who can get along with anyone. I don't believe I have ever met someone who doesn't like the fella.

Regarding his game, it's refreshing to see that someone who focuses on a more traditional style of play can win so many comps and make the final table so consistently. In a modern age where the young wonder kids seem to be taking over with there manic playing style, Micky shows us all that the older guys can still get the job done.

Micky knows all the moves and he seems to know when it's the correct time to make them. His read of the game is incredible and I have rarely witnessed him make a slip-up. Last night he hung in with grim death and never once conceded by throwing in his remainding chips.

Kudos to Micky, a worthy winner. And thx once again for my christmas bonus.

snoops snoopy
