Saw a top Rail bod on tv saying it was the exception, but I not so sure. I find it the case for most of my rail journeys.

I think it's marketing. They know peeps buying a certain type of ticket can be screwed for more cash, so they charge that fare.

Fare I got a while back:

Aberdeen>Prestwick, rail single: £57

Prestwick>London, London>Verona:Italy, Return flight, all-in: £24

I go Aberdeen - Larbert about 3 times a month and this just saved me squillyoons.

Aberdeen-Dundee and Dundee-Larbert is about 20% cheaper than Aberdeen-Larbert. Might muck about with Perth and Stirling and see if I can save even more.

I have been doing this well over 10 years, mainly cos I used to (and still do less regularaly) get the train to football matches. I think I save about £20 splitting my journey from Nottingham to Norwich.
