Surely Vieria is an unnecessary signing for Man City? De Jong, Kompany and Barry are all likely to be better options in a similar role.

Who does your team need? Blackburn could do with shipping some folk out, namely McCarthy, and bringing in some freshness. We surely have money to spend after recent-ish Bentley and Santa Cruz transfers. A left back would be nice too.

good thread.

Suprised to see Birmingham have 40m to spend.

Also, i wouldve thought 8m for Babel was a very fair offer indeed, suprised Liverpool rejected that for a bench warmer.

I would have accepted £8 and a packet of crisps for him.

Think Viera would be a good signing for City. Don't think Barry is really an enforcer and De Jong probably isn't as good.

Would like to see United buy a striker and cover at centre half. Can't see it happening tho

Barry seems to play a more supporting and somewhat attacking role for city, I think he is much better in front of the back four, "loading the gun" for the more creative players such as Ireland and Tevez.

City need to buy a big, experienced international centre half, but I think Viera will be good to have in the squad as he has been there, done that, got the t shrit and also when he has a lot of drive when he plays which may be the difference between draws and wins which is citys problem atm.

Newcastle need to get some players from smaller teams, and let them bulk our squad up, Beckford from Leeds may be good.

We will take McCarthy off your hands for you! You want Samaras?

Rumour round the campfire that Lambert going to Burnley.

Would be a disaster for NCFC and signing of the season for Burnley IMO

Was 20+/1 yesterday and into 3/1 ish today adds some weight to said rumour I guess.

Surely Vieira's legs have gone by now, he was definitely a great player five years ago but he's 34....

Pointless signing by City, hardly improving the squad, but i guess he is in there to improve their leaky defence, would prob do a good job at CB.

I'd like to see Brighton sign a LM (hopefully Monkhouse from hartlepool), an experienced CB, and possibly one or two loan signings, maybe a right back but can't see this as hoytes loan has been extended and he is TERRIBLE

I'd have McCarthy at Liverpool as a squad player.  Always thought he's a very talented player and fat.

Added to your post.

I think De Jong is a much better bet than Vieira - and Kompany probably too, although looks like he is filling in at the back. I realise Barry plays a bit further forward but sometimes they play without a De Jong/Vieira type.

The Babel thing is just weird - Birmingham offer too much, and Liverpool still reject it. Think they will go in for McGeady now, he'll be very decent IMO.
