Heard a great one yesterday from someone who works for Mentor the Employment Law advisor and indemnity service from RBS.
Black bloke applies for job, uses black name, attatches photo of him looking all black and stuff.
Sends in second application, using a white ladies name, attahes photo of lady looking all pasty and white.
If Mr Black gets and interview and Miss White doesnt he starts a sex discrimination claim
If Miss White gets a claim but not Mr Black doesnt he starts a race discrimination claim
Anyone want to take a guess at how this plan worked out for him?

He got both interviews scheduled for the same day and so paid Lenny Henry to dress up in drag to act as the white lady.

Tikay, can you post a source for your OP?

http://news.globaltv.com/money/Reliable+workers+deemed+discriminatory+centre/2486946/story.html
It was on CNN News last night, too, and on CBS News as the "and finally" piece.

Thank you. It's just better for those reading it to assess the accuracy and bias in a piece if they know where it came from. It's also the right thing to do to credit a source if you're pasting a significant chunk of it on another site.

Nope
He has now had 73 cases settled out of court and they are struggling to keep track of him because they always involve a non-disclosure agreement!
At a guess absolute 5k minimum for each one?
Oh

You are correct - I should have quoted the Daily Telegraph as my source.
I thought about it for hours, & whilst not much tilts me up, this news did, & on so many levels.

I agree. Anti-discrimination laws are put in place to protect groups of people from being singled out and their prospects of getting work restricted just because of where they were born, the colour of their skin, their sex or sexuality, etc.
There isn't a group of people who are discriminated against because they are unreliable. That's an individual's choice.
The worst thing is that the onus of 'proof' is placed on the employer, and if they don't employ a particular person and are accused of discriminating against them it seems that the employer must then show that they weren't. It's similar to the UK libel laws which are also completely arse about face.
