We seem to have secured a ridiculous rate at Planet Hollywood.

Do tell...details & linky please?

Not 100% sure to be honest as I havent done it!

No details or links, but a great rate with no gaming requirement.

I'd be interested if and when you get details.

But. bad news in the Poker Comps front at PHo from a blogger I follow (PokerGrump)

Quote
PH has never tracked player hours for purposes of comp dollars, the way most poker rooms do.
(snip)
The floor guy told me that they required 10 hours of play for a comp. I asked whether it had to be all in one day. He said no, that much time over two or three days would work, too. This puzzled me, because I couldn't see how they would track such hours; on previous occasions, I have been told that they will not use players' club cards to track hours. So I asked whether I should check in with my club card. He said no, just tell him that I'm there playing and trying to accumulate the appropriate hours, and he'll informally keep an eye on it.

Paulie

I am guilty for the room rate - and i have pretty much sold my soul to get it.

PH is a great looking casino so Im hoping for big things. Its prob the best of the mid-range hotels and a great location. Really hoping the rooms live up to the rest of the Hotel.

Look out of pics of Blatch and Cos in a Jaccuzzi full of cash!

I would expect we will be mostly be playing pokerz in the venitian by the sound of it?
If so we will save up all the comping and just have one big fuck off dinner on the last night or something?

Hmmm, I have a spare soul lying around...Fair enough if you don't want to let on...group route with promises would be my guess. Smiley

I'm told it's a pretty decent place although my only recollections is when it was the Aladdin and was in transition to PHo (dating myself).

I'd suggest TripAdvisor for room reviews...I'll check it out.

dont know what taxis are like in the USA but 1 return taxi a day is normally acceptable when i goto a UK casino
infact only casino i travels to without help without a taxi is the alea in leeds and the vic in london (if i stay in a £200 a night hotel)

Actually, for your purposes, Iron, it's much better to stay centre-strip or MGM corner (or at least on the main monorail)

For the price of a cab, MGM has the main monorail which connects you to centre-strip. Cross the road from the MGM by walkway to NYNY and from there Excalibur and onto Luxor/Mandalay Bay by the other monorail.

Harrahs/Flamingo/IP/Bills are all contiguous and opposite Mirage/TI/Caesars (Harrahs/IP are on the monorail).

Even after the monorail shuts down (and it does) you have the back-up option of a cab.

Believe me, I've stayed in the Strat and whilst the rooms are OK, you are trapped with that area with very little to do.

The Stratosphere is connected to the monorail isn't it?

Don't think so. I think you're thinking of the Sahara.

Have been to Vegas 5 times and stayed in pretty crappy places due to budget constraints. Going this year and planning on Caesars but would say that Planet Hollywood is a great choice also.

Iron - Don't stay at Strat. It's in a rough area and getting around in Vegas takes longer than you might think. Taxi q's, traffic jams etc.
