This event, which sold-out at 2,400 runners, began yesterday (Friday) & incredibly, only 111 players survived the day. Dave is trying to get us the full list, but he tells me that......

Average chips right now is about 29k.

Overnight Chip Leader is Dan Monroe, with 130,000. Mike Matusow has 104k, & Scott Fischmann 82k.

Greg Raymer is hanging in there with 19k, & Hellmuth with 12k.

Devilfish is lying handily with 62k, after busting out 2 players near the end of play, he was holding AJ.

It appears that today's table draw & full list of chip counts will be available later, & if we can get Dave off the golf course/away from the bar, we will bring them to you.

Johan Storakers made the money, about $2,500 I believe - a little profit to start the WSOP, well done Johan!

Text in from The Blonde One, with a bit more info......

".....Of the 111 players still in, these seem to be the sole surviving Brits.......

Dave Ulliott 54k.

Matthew Fletcher, 26k

Paul Westley, 8k......".

Not the UK's best day at the WSOP, but we still have chances.

9th place gets around $50k, & the winner a mouth watering $700,000+. Very nice too......

The total Prize pool was an amazing $3,000,000. There are clearly going to be some whopping numbers this year at the WSOP!

I don't know either Matthew Fletcher or Dave Westley - anyone out there got any info on them?

Paul Westley went early, 108th for $3k, & Devilfish is struggling with a short stack. No news on Matt Fletcher.

There are about 65 left. This will be a 3 day jobbie, & they play down to the Final table of 9 today.

Down to about 40 now. Average stack is around 84k.

Devilfish has staged a remarkable comeback, he's on 130k.

Phil Hellmuth exited 24th, his 6-6 overtaken by Liz Lieu's K-Q. The Great Man was not best pleased that Liz called with KQ. Could be something to do with the fact Liz is, err, female.......

Interesting that in such a large field (second biggest in WSOP history) that so many class players are in the final. Several bracelet winners. Goes to show class will out I guess Smiley

Good point Simon.

But, on balance, that has not been the case ("class will show") in Europe this year in the bigger events.

That's only ONE class player. Surely you are not going to accept that a Welshman is as good as a wee Scottish person?
