Still only 2/3 of what you're paying for.

You need to disconnect everybody else and just have one wired connection to test it properly to make sure you don't need to shout at Virgin.

The wired cable is ridic long that I'm connected to which I assume would have an effect ? I will do that when I test it in the new room on a shorter cable.

Haha Mo, not sure I'd be too keen grinding on that.

At those sort of speeds cable quality can affect performance but length shouldn't be an issue if you're within 20m which I assume you are?

Does the cable say 'cat 5' or something similar on it somewhere?

I'm not much good with distances Smiley

The cable goes from the big room through the passage, then the living room and kitchen, then another small passage before finally getting to my room, so it's quite far.

Shouldn't really matter, you can get 1000Mb down 100m of cat5e cable if it's wired properly. 71Mb shouldn't be a problem. If you're the only one on it, and you're getting 71Mb with nothing else running, still feels like there is a problem.

Whether speedtest.net can actually correctly handle that bandwidth is a question. There might be bits of infrastucture between you them that are bottlenecks.

Can you take a picture of the cable and post it? What Rex says is true but if you're using an old cable it may be cat5 as opposed to 5e which will only work up to 100Mb. If it's got a bit battered it could be quite badly affected.

With a new high speed router you shouldn't get any problems at all.

I'd guess the oldest and weakest link is your cable.

If it's new and cat5e then it's definitely not your cable. If it's old and cat5 or worse then I'd say that's your place to start.

It is a pretty old looking cable, I'll been using a different one from tmoro anyways so will see what the results comeback as after I change it to a shorter newer cable, thanks for the advice.

I cut todays session short as I wasn't feeling that great and wasn't playing that great either. I felt good when I started playing but within a couple hours I was feeling pretty tired which was possibly down to oversleeping as I had about 10 hours sleep and I'd usually never have more than 8. Also I just felt a bit lousy and had a headache etc etc. I'd say I probably played my C game today and I'm not just going to grind for the sake of grinding when I know I'm not playing as well as I can play. That said I had a decent amount of chances but ran pretty terrible on finals in everything, nevermind.

Games today : 94
Loss today : $489.63

Profit total : $2707.98

Current balance : $7707.98

Games today : 6
Loss today : $210.00

Current balance : $1696.92

Instead of wasting the rest of the day I'm going to move most of my stuff into they other room and at least it gets that out of the way. The landlord said he would sort out the desk so that's a little result as it saves me having to get it sorted.

I haven't had much chance to speak to the lass that lives here, she seems canny though. She's from Macedonia originally and works in IT at P&G. I'm struggling to understand her accent a little bit, that irony lol, ofc she is me to. She said she's moving out end of Feb, I guess with the one month lease people might come and go quite often.
