I had to get up dead early to get to London in time for the cricket so I was up at 5am so I could have a quick bath and be ready for the taxi for half past.I bought a couple of papers at the station and was on the train to leave at 6am.The train down flew over although but I was a bit concerned that it took me three hours to read the Sun back to back.I met Simon at Kings Cross and I was still half asleep so I thought a pint would've been a good idea but since Simon said that wasn't really an opton Starbucks had to do.We then headed to the ground and Simon got a txt off Cos saying he was going to get there in 10 minutes so we waited outside the ground for him,Amatay and Cos' mate to get there.They arrived so we where just waiting on Longy,it got to around 10:50 so we decided we'd go in and Simon could pass Longy his ticket when he got there.As soon as we went through the turnstile Longy rang to say he was there so we where all in our seats just after the start.

It didn't take long for the bets to start the first one being the flip for drinks.Simon and Longy had a drink already as did I but I decided to still get involved in the flip between me,Cos and Amatay.Cos flips heads,Amatay a heads FML tails,great start lol.I went to get the drinks and then when I tried to go back there was a cue of about 10 people and nobody was moving so I waited a bit but I'm rather impatient so I moaned to the guy in front wtf why is nobody moving,he turned round and very much speaking down to me informed me that your not allowed to move during an over,sigh wp me.

The bets continued to flow with us betting on how many runs there would be per over for three overs to make it fair; so one over you'd have 1-2 runs next over 3-4 runs then the last 5-6.I shipped the first one so was on a freeroll then binked the last wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.We then had a bet on how long it will take them to get over 60 runs when they're currently at 51 Cos sets the line at 15 balls so me and Amatay take the over Cos the under.Then after the first over it's going well for us and Cos starts calling for dot balls,I look at Amatay confused, WTF?? Cos had somehow totally misunderstood the bet and was rooting for the wrong side LMAO me and Amatay didn't really care if we won as Cos had made it worth our while anyway lol.With one over left I thought there was a break so decided to go to the toilet but when I came out they where playing again and as I couldn't go back up I watched it on the screen with Cos' mate,I had thought the bet was to 60 runs not over 60 runs so when they hit a 4 on the second last ball of the over to reach 60 I thought sigh FML but the bet was actually over 60 and a dot ball at the last meant another shippppp wiiiiiiiiii.Somebody then suggests how many balls it would take for the next 4 to be hit and Simon says 12 balls.Cos takes the under and the rest of us bar Cos' mate all take the over,first ball Cook smashes it for four haha gg us mbn etc etc.

Play then stops for lunch so we head down to get something to eat,well they did I just stuck with the drink as eating's cheating.Simon tucks away TWO massive baguettes,Longy just the one and the rest head off to try and find a burger.We head back up for the restart to which everyone seems to be searching for there second wind.Amatay loses the flip for drinks but the bars shut between 2-3 mega sigh.Simon and Cos then make a bet on when the next wicket will fall and the line is set at 3 and me and Cos have a bet on how many runs they'll have by 3 I can't remember the line but I was on the under and it was looking like a close sweat but at 14:59 a wicket fell lololol gg Simon and I won the on the under.By about 4:30 me and a couple others were starting to get a bit bored as we couldn't think of any new bets to make and disappointingly there was abs no atmosphere in the ground which surprised me a lot.I would have to say I think cricket is better to watch on Sky then as a spectator although I think I'd have a different opinion if I went to an Ashes game.

Bad light stopped play so we left with them all heading to the Empire and me and Longy heading to check in at the hotel after I finally managed to find out where it was.We got to the hotel easily enough tried to check in but for some reason my card wasn't working,i tried entering my pin 3 times it didn't work so I'd blocked the card FMEL.We paid in cash and I then rang the bank.They said just to go to a cash machine and I could sort it so I did and pin number worked straight away and I unblocked the card,strange!!! We headed to the Empire to find Amatay had stayed on the tube and went home,lightweight.Cos and his mate played a little bit of blackjack and ran bad so I told Cos to back 8 on the roulette as it's my lucky number he laughed at me and he walked over so I thought he had put it on but he didn't,next number sure wasn't 8,sick and then the number after that was... ... 8.Cos and his mate then left as well so from the 6 of us at the start it was now down to me,Simon and Longy and we'd been joined by Celtic,Delboy and Gatso.

We had a couple more drinks and decided to go for an Indians and although it was cheating I thought it was a wise choice for me to have something.I got a jalfrezi and Christ it was hot,I like hot stuff and I'm sure that it's mild to others but this was a lot hotter than a jalfrezi from up my way.Simon had the same thing so I asked if he thought his was hot he said no then ordered some yogurt drink,O RLY.The food was really nice,we settled the bill then decided to head back to the casino to play some pokers.Simon said he was wrecked and didn't fancy playing so headed to catch the tube at around half 10,good showing from the southern boys not one making it past midnight,softies.

Me,Celtic and Delboy put our names on a 1-2 list then Longy added his name a bit later but decided not to play so the three of us sat at a new table and I'm obviously pretty drunk at this point so think to myself I'll try and play pretty nitty as I only had like £260 net on me and didn't fancy going busto straight away.First hand Delboy makes it £6 utg+1 three ppl call and I peel in sb with Q9 green bb checks.Flop is 678 rainbow,I check and it checks around to some youngish lad in mid pos who makes it 25 it folds around to me and I call(I sat down with 210) the turn is a J I check and he makes it 35 and looked really weak to me so I decided to stick to my original plan of being nitty... ... and announced all in.He dwelled for a bit and folded wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.I won a flop later on and chipped up and ended up leaving with about £600,Vinny stacked off but reloaded and also left up around 300 and Delboy also won a canny bit so good times all round.Vinny left to catch the last tube and we sat and drank until around 4am then me and Longy headed to our hotel and them 2 headed off into the night.

So all in all it was a really good trip and had a lot of fun,I didn't intend to write anywhere near that much lol

The Sky coverage of cricket is brilliant and you get so much more than if you just go to the ground but a day at the test is still one of the days i most look forward to in the year.
I think of it as being similar to an all dayer in a pub garden with sport being played in front of you for entertainment. If the sport is tez there is always the company.
Trent Bridge didn't get an Ashes test in 09 so only been to an Ashes test in 05 and the atmosphere is obviously better and the banter is better with the Aussies but still hard to think of a better sporting day out than a day at the test whoever is playing.
