It does sound heat related if it works with the side off. I'd guess either broken fan (a few quid) or dust build up (a can of compressed air should sort you out).
A fan that doesn't restart itself after you've touched it doesn't sound very healthy - but it could be a low powered one to keep the noise down.

It still works after I touch it, just goes a lot quiter, I also think it's the fan, I've just taken a look at it and it is just screwed in with 4 screws and looks pretty easy to take it out and replace with another one as nothing is in the way, hopefully that will sort it. Will try the can of compressed air first, take it that's pretty easy to get a hold of ?

I'd just do the fan replacement anyway mate, takes 5 mins and is cheap! Grinding will be quieter too

Yes. Curl 3 fingers around it, put your thumb on the opposite side, and your index finger on the spray nozzle.

I'd take the fan out and look underneath it. There will also be a power cable for the fan, but they plug and unplug easy enough.
If there's load of dust under the fan it would help to clean it - should be able to get compressed air from a computer shop or online.

Not sure whether to be brave and try and do it now or wait until the end of the month and do it then, if I mess it up somehow, which is definitely possible, then it's going to mean a trip to PC World tmoro and gg £7-800. Cheers for the input all, especially Tom's, appreciated.

Hi Fraser, not sure whether I will be playing it or not but if so there are a few people who have a reserve for a % if they wish, if I do play and there's anything left I will let you know, cheers and glgl at the tables.
